Chapter 66

They wondered, "Could she be the future Mrs. CEO?" Many people suddenly regarded Isabella with newfound respect. However, a few felt a deep surge of hostility.

The hospital outpatient clinic bustled; the hallway was packed. Luna, dressed in casual sportswear, wore large sunglasses, a mask, and a low-slung black bucket hat, concealing her identity as the acclaimed director. Her assistant, Jessica, a girl around Luna's age in a white floral dress, stood beside her. Luna leaned against the wall, radiating impatience. A rushing patient stepped on her foot.

"Ah!" she cried out.

Jessica rushed to her side, concern etched on her face. "Luna, are you okay?"

The patient, oblivious, had already disappeared into a doctor's office.

Luna brushed her hair back, suppressing her anger. "What kind of ridiculous doctor insists I come to the outpatient clinic for an exam?" she snapped. The thought of the doctor made her blood boil. She'd discreetly instructed Jessica to offer significantly more money for a private exam, but the doctor refused each time, simply stating, "Take it or leave it."

Jessica, relieved no one recognized Luna, tried to soothe her. "There's nothing we can do. He's one of the world's top heart surgeons, and he rarely sees patients outside clinic hours." Luna's recent chest tightness, shortness of breath, and fainting spells worried Jessica.

Though still angry, Luna, understanding Jessica's concern, sighed and waited in the hallway corner. Jessica, holding a thermos, casually blocked curious glances.

The queue device buzzed. The screen displayed: "[Number 52, La W**te, please proceed to the doctor's office.]"

Although the system truncated her name, the announcement drew attention. Luna mentally cursed the doctor. She pulled her hat lower, lowered her head, and followed Jessica.

As the door clicked shut, she exhaled. Suppressing her anger, she forced a smile, ready to face the doctor. A young man sat typing at a computer. A small tattoo peeked from under his white coat sleeve. Despite the lab coat and mask, he seemed laid-back and careless.

Luna's smile vanished. "Is this really the highly skilled doctor you mentioned?" she asked Jessica, adding, "He looks like a scam artist."

Jessica gave Charles an awkward smile, whispering to Luna, "He's the real deal."

His appearance didn't scream "doctor," but his skills were undeniable. Luna remained skeptical, thinking, This kid looks like he should still be in university.

He stopped typing, his tone serious. "Ms. White, you can question my character, but not my medical skills." He thought, If this weren't a clinic, I'd give her a piece of my mind. Past patient complaints had reached his father, the hospital director, teaching him to control his temper.

Unabashed, Luna removed her mask and sunglasses, sitting down with a composed expression. "You're not some rich kid with connections, are you? You're too young to be here. I don't believe it." Her life was at stake, and she felt no reassurance. She thought, I'm in the prime of my life—definitely not ready to throw it away.

Charles's temper flared. He slammed his hand on the table, pointing at her. "Damn it! Ask around before accusing me of using connections!" He thought, This woman is driving me crazy! He resented being questioned, especially after his father's "re-education."

Jessica, sensing an escalation, intervened with a placating smile. "I'm so sorry! You're so handsome, Doctor!" She feared another appointment with Charles would be impossible if things turned violent.

Charles, his ego soothed, brushed his hair back. "Alright, alright. I'll forgive you for not recognizing greatness."

Luna, unconvinced, decided to leave. She grabbed Jessica's wrist. "Let's find another doctor."

Jessica, caught between them, looked helplessly from one to the other. Though worried about Luna's health, she couldn't force her to stay.

Charles, insulted, hurried after them. "Hey, hey, hey! I have to treat you today, no matter what!" He worried about his reputation.

Luna, losing patience, rolled up her sleeves. "Damn it! I've never met anyone who dares push me around like this!" she growled.
