Chapter 851
The two of them didnโt know how much time had passed before they finally lay back down, wrapped in each otherโs arms as they drifted off to sleep.
The moon hid behind a layer of clouds, leaving only the stars to twinkle stubbornly in the night sky, as if afraid of disturbing the two souls who had finally reunited.
The next morning, as soon as Aurora opened her eyes, she realized the space beside her was empty.
A savory aroma lingered in the air. It smelled like food and instantly stirred her appetite.
She propped herself up and saw Megan already sitting in the chair nearby.
The table was filled with dishes. Some of the food had clearly been eaten, while the rest was obviously left for her.
The sight warmed Auroraโs heart. She glanced at the clock. It was just past eight in the morning and she couldnโt help but smile.
โMegan, youโre here so early?โ
โThatโs not like you at all.โ
Speaking as she went, Aurora got out of bed and headed to the bathroom to freshen up. Without realizing it, her stomach had already started to growl.
Megan rushed over to support her as she got up, which made Aurora chuckle.
โWhat are you doing? Itโs not like Iโve lost the ability to take care of myself.โ
She was both amused and helpless. Megan was simply too nervous, treating her like she was fragile.
โYouโve been bedridden for a whole month. Your bodyโs still recovering,โ Megan spoke righteously. โI feel better helping you walk.โ
Aurora couldnโt help but resist a little. Like this, she really did feel like someone who couldnโt take care of herself. But Megan insisted on her stance.
No matter what Aurora said, she refused to let go and insisted on helping her to the bathroom. Seeing this, Aurora had no choice but to agree. She couldnโt win against Megan. After all these years together, she knew exactly what kind of person she was. Arguing further would do neither of them any good, and honestly, there wasnโt much point in it anyway.

โYouโre really something, my little housekeeper.โ Aurora spoke with fondness in her tone and even gave Meganโs chubby cheek a playful pinch. That one small act brought a sense of comfort to her heart. She had wanted to do that for a while now, but the first day they met again, Megan had cried too hard and she didnโt have the heart to do it. The second day, though, was just the right time.
Megan gave Aurora a look of mock accusation but, considering her condition, she let it go. After walking Aurora to the bathroom door, Megan tactfully stepped back.
She reminded Aurora, โWhen youโre done, remember to call me. Donโt you dare think itโs a hassle and try to handle it on your own. Iโll be right nearby. Just call me and Iโll come right over.โ Megan repeated her instructions again and again.
Aurora could only nod. โAlright, I got it. Donโt worry.โ
Only after getting Auroraโs promise did Megan feel at ease enough to return and continue eating.
Once Megan turned to leave, Aurora finally closed the bathroom door. At first, she had wanted to ask why Lucas wasnโt in the room, but then she figured everyone had their own things to do. He couldnโt possibly revolve his whole life around her. That kind of thinking just wasnโt realistic. Rather than waste energy on that, she might as well focus on what to do next.
