Chapter 780

โ€œThese past four weeks, I donโ€™t even know how I made it through,โ€ Lucas said quietly. โ€œEvery day, I sat there staring at your profile, drowning in a kind of despair I didnโ€™t know was possible.โ€

Aurora didnโ€™t know how to comfort him. Her heart ached just as much. The Lucas she knew had never been like this. He used to keep everything bottled up, never saying a word about what he really felt. But now, he was so open and raw, it left her unsure how to respond.

Her voice softened. โ€œWell, Iโ€™m awake now, arenโ€™t I? It felt like I was trapped in this long, endless dream. In it, I relived so many moments from my past.โ€

Then she paused. A flicker of confusion crossed her face. โ€œNoโ€ฆ thatโ€™s not right. It wasnโ€™t a dream.โ€

Lucas frowned slightly, not quite following. โ€œWhat do you mean?โ€

Aurora looked straight at him, her gaze clear and certain. โ€œBecause I just realized what I said wasnโ€™t right. That wasnโ€™t a dream. Everything I saw really happened.โ€

Lucas leaned in, visibly intrigued. It was the first time heโ€™d heard her speak like this. โ€œYouโ€™re serious?โ€

Aurora nodded solemnly. โ€œYes. I am. All those moments I sawโ€“they were real. They happened to me, from when I was a child right up to now. And I even saw things I hadnโ€™t noticed before.โ€

Lucasโ€™ heart skipped a beat. A spark of hope lit up inside him. Did that mean she remembered what theyโ€™d once shared?

Seeing the look in his eyes, Aurora gave him a firm nod. โ€œYes. I remember everything.โ€

For a second, Lucasโ€™ eyes widened in shock. He hadnโ€™t expected her to actually remember it all. That meant all his efforts hadnโ€™t been in vain. Lucas had always feared Aurora might never remember that moment from their past. But now, all of a sudden, she did. And for him, that was the greatest gift imaginable. There was no doubt it brought them even closer.

This time, it was Aurora who threw her arms around Lucas. โ€œI really do remember now. You were the boy who stayed by my side back then, the one who kept talking to me and even gave me chocolate.โ€

Lucas parted his lips slightly, stunned. For a moment, he couldnโ€™t believe what he was hearing. She hadnโ€™t just guessed. She genuinely remembered. It wasnโ€™t out of politeness or from someone else telling her. She remembered him. All those days while she was unconscious, all the things she said earlierโ€“heโ€™d taken it all with a grain of salt. But now, he had no choice but to believe it. She had truly remembered everything. Sheโ€™d seen her childhood, and this time, she didnโ€™t look at him like a stranger anymore.

Aurora looked up at him and said earnestly, โ€œIโ€™m sorry. I really am. I mistook you for Joseph back then. Thatโ€™s why those three years even happened.โ€

Lucasโ€™ throat bobbed with a heavy swallow. His hands, hanging at his sides, curled into tight fists. No one knew how hard he was trying to keep himself composed.

โ€œSo, those three years you spent with him was just because you felt indebted?โ€

Aurora nodded sweetly. โ€œYes. After I came out of the coma, everyone assumed the boy Iโ€™d been talking about was Joseph.
