Chapter 751

โ€œIt collapsed?โ€ Megan instinctively took two steps back, her face full of disbelief as she kept repeating the words. โ€œWhat do you mean it collapsed?โ€

The officer felt a bit sorry seeing her like that and was about to speak to comfort her when Megan suddenly slipped past him. She quickly ducked down and darted under the officerโ€™s arm, sprinting straight toward the teaching block. In over a decade, this was probably the fastest Megan had ever run. She was still clinging to hope, hoping this was all just a bad dream. After all, someone like Auroraโ€”so brilliant and capableโ€”how could she possibly be caught in a disaster?

The officer stood there, stunned by how fast Megan moved, completely caught off guard.

โ€œHey, young lady, I told you not to go in. Why wonโ€™t you listen?โ€ He chased after her, but soon realized that despite his training, Megan was somehow faster. With no choice, the officer had to stop running. As much as he didnโ€™t want to admit it, he really couldnโ€™t catch up. Then it struck himโ€”just moments ago, the girl said her friend was in the auditorium. So, she must be running in to find her friend. The officer was soft-hearted. He decided to just let her go. With the school in such chaos, no one was going to notice anyway.

When Megan made a left turn, the auditorium was still nowhere in sight, but the crowd was getting larger. Her heartbeat quickened along with the growing tension. And at that moment, Megan finally realized that her racing heartbeat from before wasnโ€™t her imagination. It was real. So, back then, was Aurora already in danger? Right now, Megan couldnโ€™t think about anything else. All she wanted was to see Aurora, full of life and energy, just as she always had been. She didnโ€™t want to owe anyone anything. Worst of all, Aurora had only gone to the auditorium because Megan begged her to. So, it was all her fault. At that thought, Meganโ€™s eyes welled up with tears, blurring her vision until she could barely see ahead. But she didnโ€™t stop. She kept running forward. She had made it this farโ€”there was no way she could give up now.

When she finally reached the front of the auditorium, the pile of rubble lay completely exposed. What used to be a solid, well-structured building had crumbled into nothing but ruins. The sight was so overwhelming that even Megan couldnโ€™t process it. Even the school officials who had first seen the collapse on the surveillance footage hadnโ€™t felt this level of shock. It was a scene beyond anything anyone couldโ€™ve imagined. Megan ran up to the debris but was stopped by officers at the red warning line.

โ€œWhere did you come from, young lady? Canโ€™t you see the area is cordoned off? Why are you still trying to force your way through?โ€ Megan shook her head. โ€œI donโ€™t know, and I donโ€™t want to know. Officer, my best friend is inside. There were students in that building.โ€ Even as she asked that question, a sense of dread crept up in her chest. She desperately wanted the officer to tell her that no one was inside the auditorium and the collapse hadnโ€™t hurt anyone. But all she saw was the officer slowly shaking his head.

โ€œYoung lady, was your friend in the auditorium earlier?โ€ Earlier, the principal informed the police that the surveillance showed five students inside the auditorium.
