Just as young Aurora lifted her foot to move, the crack in the floor widened sharply. She was standing right at the center of the danger zone. “It’s pouring outside–don’t even think about going out. It’s just not possible right now.”

Hearing those words, Megan looked even more shaken, like something in her mind had snapped. “Where is she? Where’s Aurora?”

“What’s going on with the auditorium? Does anyone know anything?” Her voice cracked with emotion, trembling on the edge of tears. No one had ever seen her like this before. And now, it was painfully clear to everyone just how much Aurora meant to Megan. Most people had always assumed their friendship was superficial. After all, they were both from wealthy families–how could there not be a hint of pretension? No one expected these two girls to actually share such a genuine bond.
