Chapter 670

He hadnโ€™t expected that kind of look coming from such a young girl.

The gang leader shuddered, his voice faltering.

โ€œWhat the hell are you staring at? That damn mutt died because of you. If it hadnโ€™t jumped in to save you, we wouldnโ€™t even know it existed. You think we wouldโ€™ve touched it otherwise?โ€

Hearing that twisted excuse, Auroraโ€™s eyes nearly bulged out of her head. How could someone be this shameless? They were the real bastards, and yet they had the audacity to blame someone else for what theyโ€™d done?

Meganโ€™s gaze dulled a little.

In a way, the thug wasnโ€™t wrongโ€ฆ It was because of her.

Auroraโ€™s voice rang out, raw and hoarse. โ€œMegan, donโ€™t listen to him! Heโ€™s trying to manipulate you! Theyโ€™re the monsters here. None of this is your fault! They are the ones who should be punished!โ€

But no matter how much she screamed, no matter how hard she tried to reach her, Megan didnโ€™t respond. She was motionless on the ground, and Auroraโ€™s desperate shouting was like throwing words into a void. The helplessness crushed her. It had been bearable when she hadnโ€™t seen it for herself. But now, watching everything unfold, Aurora was overwhelmed by a suffocating sense of powerlessness. It hurt more and more with every second.

Megan, from behind, looked like she had completely given up. She had no will to resist anymore. She just kept staring blankly at the kittenโ€™s body. Auroraโ€™s heart ached beyond words. Why did Megan have to be this foolish? She was too kind and pure; she couldnโ€™t handle this kind of cruelty. If she werenโ€™t like that, she wouldnโ€™t have broken like this.

Aurora could only watch as the thugs reached for Meganโ€™s clothes, and she could do nothing.

She glanced at the time. If she remembered right, she should be arriving any moment now. At that moment, Aurora could only hope her arrival would come a little sooner, just a bit faster.

At first, Megan didnโ€™t resist, thinking it was her fault the kitten had died. But for some reason, Auroraโ€™s face suddenly flashed through her mind.

Right, if she gave up her life like this, what would happen to Auro? Would she really leave her alone in this world? Just the thought of it was something Megan couldnโ€™t bear. Not to mention, with that sister of Auroraโ€™s, the way she treated her โ€“ how could Megan ever be at ease leaving Aurora to deal with that viper alone? If Megan was gone, wouldnโ€™t Aurora be even more isolated in this world?

And if she couldnโ€™t even hold herself together, then wouldnโ€™t the kittenโ€™s death be meaningless? How could she let that little cat die in vain?

At that thought, a wave of determination surged through Megan, especially when she looked at the kittenโ€™s lifeless body not far away. She slowly rose to her feet, clutching her torn clothes tightly. She couldnโ€™t let down those who cared for her, who loved her. There was no way these monsters were laying a finger on her today. Even if she died, she would protect this final line.

โ€œAurora, Mom, Dadโ€ฆ I miss you all so muchโ€ฆโ€

The thugs stared as Megan suddenly stood up. At first, the three of them exchanged glances, visibly stunned. Just moments ago, she had looked completely crushed, like sheโ€™d given up. Now, out of nowhere, she was standing again.

Seeing this, the thugs looked at each other in confusion, unsure what just happened. โ€œWhat the hellโ€™s going on, boss?โ€
