It seemed like he must have been on the plane at that time. Otherwise, there wouldn’t have been a signal.

Lucas pressed his lips together. “She’s fine, Mom, don’t worry. Besides, why insist on staying when that hospital couldn’t cure her? It would’ve just been a waste of time. As for the claim that she couldn’t be transferred easily, I was worried about that at first too. But now, I can say with certainty that she’s fine.”

His words finally put Grace’s mind at ease. “Is everything you said true?”

Lucas replied firmly on the phone, “Of course it’s true. You and I both want the same thing, Mom. What reason would I have to lie to you? If that doctor back home is incompetent, then why not try advanced treatment overseas?”

Hearing this, Grace didn’t know what to say. She stayed silent for a moment before finally finding her voice. “Then make sure you call me on video. I want to see Aurora.”

Lucas gave a soft hum. “Don’t worry. I’m still waiting outside. The doctors are inside examining Aurora’s symptoms, trying to find the exact cause. At first, I was worried about what those doctors had said too. But I’ve been taking good care of her along the way, and the doctors have been with us the whole time. The strange thing is…”

Lucas’ words piqued Grace’s curiosity. “What’s strange? What happened?”

Even Arnold looked over when he heard that, unable to resist the pull of the conversation. Seeing Grace return to her usual self, he felt relieved as well. The moment she recovered, she immediately called Aurora. From that, he could tell that Grace truly cared about her. She just didn’t know how to show it. That was the problem.

Grace had always been that way–tough on the outside, soft on the inside. So, Aurora had always felt a bit distant from her. At times, she even preferred talking to him. Grace could see this side of herself occasionally, but she never expressed it directly, always hoping Aurora would come to understand her love on her own.

To be honest, Arnold didn’t quite know how to describe Grace’s personality. Perhaps it was a bit awkward, even contradictory at times.

On Lucas’ end, he had already thought through how to phrase it. Seeing how curious Grace was, he continued.

“The doctor at First Light Hospital insisted that transferring hospitals would affect Aurora’s physical condition. But after we got here, and even along the way, the doctors have been monitoring her constantly. All her vitals have been stable—there’s really nothing serious.”

Grace had the phone on speaker. Hearing that, she exchanged a glance with Arnold, both of them stunned. They’d originally believed something was genuinely wrong with Aurora. So, when Tessa described it so gravely, Grace had grown worried. But after all that, Grace had begun to notice something strange. Aurora didn’t seem to have any real issues. Then why had Tessa acted so anxious and afraid?

Lucas noticed his mother-in-law had gone quiet, not saying a word. Of course, he understood that Grace wasn’t naive. In fact, anyone who could bring Walton Corporation to where it stood today couldn’t possibly be foolish.
