Meanwhile, Julian had arrived at the hospital. After the experience last time, he moved through the place with ease and went straight to Jackson’s office. At that moment, Jackson was still busy attending to patients. When he heard a knock at the door, he didn’t pay it much attention. He casually called out, “The door’s unlocked. Just come in.”
Ever since the doctors agreed not to transfer Aurora out of the hospital, he’d been in a much better mood. It meant, in a roundabout way, that he had fulfilled Julian’s request and life had been easier since. Even his tone had become noticeably more direct and energetic.
He clearly heard someone push the door open and enter the office, but after waiting a moment, he still didn’t hear the person say anything. That puzzled him. What was going on? Who would walk in and just stay silent? When he finally looked up, he saw Julian standing there, completely nonchalant. In the next second, Jackson was so startled he jumped to his feet. “Mr. Hayes! What a surprise!”
Julian raised a brow. “What, am I not welcome here?” Jackson quickly wiped the fine sweat off his forehead. “Of course not! What are you saying? This hospital is practically funded by your family and closely tied to your company. Who am I to question anything?” He put on his most flattering smile and started fawning over Julian with excessive enthusiasm. Julian clearly enjoyed the flattery. Without any courtesy, he plopped down into Jackson’s office chair and casually picked up a file, flipping through it. “How’s Aurora Walton doing lately?”
Jackson quickly gave his report. “Just as you expected, that man still hasn’t given up on finding a new doctor for her.” “So how did you handle it in the end?” Julian knew Jackson must’ve done something. Otherwise, he would’ve heard by now if there were plans to transfer Aurora out of the hospital. And Jackson wouldn’t be sitting here this calmly, chatting with him. Jackson chuckled. “I’m not sure what kind of connections that guy has, but the doctors he brought in were pretty reputable. But thanks to the work you all put in earlier, the medication Aurora received didn’t raise any red flags. They couldn’t tell what was really in it.”
Julian was a little surprised. He didn’t expect Tessa to actually pull it off. The medication she’d arranged had passed even under the scrutiny of those so-called experts. That meant, going forward, they could be bolder with their actions. There was no need to tiptoe around like before.
Jackson nodded. “Exactly. Even those specialists couldn’t detect anything unusual. At first, they all suggested moving her to another hospital, but I remembered what you told me. So, I advised them that we recommend a conservative approach—best not to move the patient unnecessarily.”
