All it did was make Aurora feel like her past self had been unbelievably naive.

But Joseph kept going, oblivious to her discomfort.

“Those were our best memories. I still remember the first time you blushed, the way you looked in that white dress–so sweet and shy. You were always so gentle and soft when you were with me… It was such a beautiful time.”

As he spoke, he watched her face closely, searching for some flicker of emotion.

But to Aurora, hearing those words from him made her skin crawl. The more he went on, the more irritated she became.

Her expression turned colder by the second. She reached for her phone, ready to call a ride. Staying here any longer felt like a direct assault on her intelligence.

Joseph noticed the gesture. That was when it hit him–she hadn’t been listening to a single word he said. And in that moment, he felt like a complete fool. He had poured out his heart, and yet this woman–this ungrateful bitch–could still be so heartless.

His eyes darkened. He slowly stepped closer to her, his voice low and threatening. “Aurora, I’ve said all of this to you, and you still won’t even look at me? Would it kill you to say something back? You really can’t give me just one more chance? You keep pushing me like this, and I swear, I don’t know what I might do. I might just lose control.”

That was when Aurora finally reacted. She let out a cold laugh and stepped back, widening the distance between them. “Perfect. That’s exactly what I needed to hear. I’ve been recording everything. Keep pushing me, and this’ll go nowhere good for either of us.”

Joseph froze, some clarity breaking through the rage in his eyes. His voice lowered with suspicion. “You’re bluffing. Did you really record it?”

Aurora didn’t even flinch. Without hesitation, she sent the audio to Judy, and then, without another word, called the police. She turned and walked straight back into Walton Corporation, calling security as she did. The entire sequence of actions flowed seamlessly. It was so smooth it left Joseph stunned. By the time he snapped out of it, security already had him restrained. Aurora, calm and composed, turned to the officers who had just arrived.

“Yes, this man is my ex-boyfriend. I recorded everything. You can listen to it. When threats didn’t work, he tried to get physical.”

“Understood, Miss Walton,” one of the officers replied firmly. “You can rest assured–we’ll make sure you’re safe.”

Aurora nodded gratefully. “Thank you, officer. I feel secure knowing I have the law on my side. Now, I’ll take my leave. I’ll leave him to you.”

With that, she turned and walked away without a second glance.

Just as she disappeared into the building, Judy arrived, only to catch the sight of Joseph being shoved into a police car. Her hand tightened around her phone, where the audio clip Aurora had sent her was still playing; she had listened to every word. Her jaw clenched. No wonder Joseph had been acting strangely lately. So, he’d been thinking about another woman again, already itching to betray her.

And what a spiteful bitch that Aurora was. They had broken up. Couldn’t she just stay away? Did she have to come back and seduce him all over again?

Judy took a slow, steady breath, her fury simmering just beneath the surface. She wasn’t going to forget this.

News of Joseph being arrested right outside the Walton Corporation spread through Ravenshore like wildfire. When Joseph’s father, Melvin Hunt, heard, he swept everything off his desk with one furious motion, his face contorted with rage.
