Chapter 131
โAfter careful consideration, Iโve decided to step down from my position as General Manager of Walton Corporation and pass it on to my second daughter, Aurora.โ
Aurora simply stood on stage, quietly fulfilling her role as the pretty face. It wasnโt until Grace brought her up that she stepped forward to speak. Just as Grace finished speaking, she handed the microphone over to Aurora.
Aurora took it naturally and gave a soft smile. โThank you, Madam Grace.โ
Grace patted her on the shoulder and said disapprovingly, โNo need to call me so formally at a cocktail party. Whatโs with all this formality?โ
Aurora merely smiled, a hint of a dimple flickering at the corner of her lips. โUnderstood, Mother.โ
The crisp way she addressed her as โMotherโ stunned everyone present. Even those colleagues who had worked with her before, initially confused, were soon left in shock. No one knew that the daughter of the Chairwoman was working in the same department as them. It was such an honor. They could only blame themselves for realizing it too late.
Her teammates started recalling her time in the company. And come to think of it, it all made sense. If she hadnโt joined, Chuck wouldnโt have fallen so quickly. Not to mention, she was assigned to that tough project with Vanguard Group the moment she came in. But sheโd managed to tackle even that daunting challenge โ proof of her real capabilities. Though surprised, they didnโt find it difficult to accept the outcome.
The first to react was Lucy. She let out a breath of relief, patted her chest, and said, โI never expected the one working alongside us every day to be the Chairwomanโs second daughter. What an honor.โ
โNo kidding. Ever since she joined, not only did Chuck Mills get removed, but we also landed this project. The companyโs been rising steadily.โ
โWell, her strength speaks for itself. Thereโs nothing for us to question.โ
โEveryone,โ Aurora cleared her throat and spoke into the microphone. โI know some of you here donโt know me, while others do. And of course, thereโs doubt and suspicion.โ
She lifted her red lips into a smile, her clear eyes sweeping over the crowd, glancing at some familiar and new faces. โBut starting now, let me formally introduce myself. Iโm Aurora Walton, the younger heiress of the Walton family and the new General Manager of Walton Corporation. As for whether I deserve this position, weโll have plenty of time to find out. The Vanguard project is only the beginning.โ
With that, Aurora returned the microphone and gave everyone a slight bow. โItโs a pleasure to meet all of you.โ Then she straightened up, standing tall and composed as she faced the crowdโs scrutiny without flinching.
The next second, thunderous applause and cheers erupted from below the stage. Everyone was applauding and voicing their support. Auroraโs ability was clear for all to see. After working with her for so long, they had witnessed her efforts firsthand. So, among the Walton employees, there were no objections to her being made General Manager. As for the other business figures present, there was even less to say โ it was an internal matter of the Waltons. As long as their interests werenโt affected, everything was negotiable. Besides, securing this project was largely thanks to the younger heiress.
Amid the applause and cheers, Tessa felt her vision go dark. Her face grew increasingly pale.
