Tina thought, “That’s great! Luke can finally marry me openly!” She immediately got out of bed, ripped out the Wordle, and was about to leave. However, having taken medication that could trigger seizures, her body was still weak. As soon as she got out of bed, she collapsed to the floor.
The people outside heard the noise and rushed into the room. Austin picked her up from the floor and placed her back on the bed, feeling helpless and frustrated. “Can’t you just calm down for a moment?”
“Austin, is it true? Luke really got divorced?” Tina grabbed his arm, her eyes shining with excitement.
“Even if he’s divorced, he won’t marry you. Just give up,” Austin said.
“No! He’s mine! He has to be mine!”
“Tina, stop being insane. If Luke had ever been willing to marry you, he would’ve agreed last time. He didn’t, and now look at what you’ve done to Vespera…”
Austin took a deep breath, trying to calm himself. “Do you think he will care about you now?”
“He will marry me! I have a plan! Trust me!” Tina said with unshakable confidence. She looked so certain, as though Luke had already agreed.
Austin and the rest of the Sowle family stared at her in silence, anxiously exchanging glances, wondering if Tina had truly lost her mind.
The entire afternoon, Vespera was upset, mainly because Tina might manage to avoid the consequences of her actions again—especially after learning that the man in black had confessed to committing the crime. The police had discovered he and Tina were indeed friends. He seemed to have a crush on her, and their chat records didn’t show Tina directly encouraging him, nor were there any money transfers. What they did find was Tina complaining to him. There were also hints in their conversations.
Although, as the victim, she clearly knew Tina was the mastermind, there was no solid proof. It was just the two of them at the scene, and without any recordings, there was no way to prove it.
Vespera didn’t have dinner that night. She had no appetite. Thinking that Dominic might have been discharged, she thought about visiting him. She picked up her phone and was about to dial his number, but then hesitated and decided to call Raymond.
Raymond answered the phone. He informed her that Dominic had been discharged in the afternoon and was now at his penthouse apartment. Vespera was delighted. “I’ll come up now,” she said. Then, realizing it was almost 7:00 pm, she added, “Is it convenient?”
“Sure, it’s fine. You can come up,” Raymond replied, agreeing without hesitation. He gave her access to the top floor, and it was set to remain permanently open.
Twenty minutes later, Vespera arrived at the penthouse apartment with a large bag of fruit in hand. She had gone out specifically to buy it; she figured it would be impolite to show up empty-handed.
Raymond had been waiting for her for a while. When he saw the fruit in her hands, he said, “Why bring fruit? You’re not a guest here.” Where is Mr. Reid?”
Raymond pointed to the left hallway. “He’s in the bedroom, the one straight ahead in the middle. Go ahead. I’ll put the fruit in the fridge.”
“Got it,” she replied. She handed the fruit to Raymond and walked towards the bedroom.
When she knocked on the door and walked in, she saw Dominic leaning against the headboard of the bed, dressed in a deep blue robe. The room was filled with his unique presence. It was then that she realized: maybe coming in alone wasn’t the best idea. Just as she was about to close the door, she decided instead to leave it ajar.
“Close the door.” A cold voice came from the bed.
Vespera blinked in surprise before quickly closing the door, muttering softly, …
