Chapter 120

Dominic spotted the black sports car through the window. It was only about fifteen feet away. It was the same license plate as in the footage.

“Stay calm. Keep following,” he said, his voice low and steady, carrying an assuring authority.

“Yes, Mr. Reid.”

Raymond took a deep breath, steadied his grip on the wheel, and slowly picked up speed to trail the car. Dominic relayed the information about the suspicious black sports car to Rebecca. She would notify the authorities and call Calvert for backup.

After about fifteen minutes of careful pursuit, the car turned into a gated community. They couldn’t get in.

“Wait…Isn’t this Ms. Gildon’s old house?” Raymond’s voice was filled with shock.

Dominic’s gaze darkened as he stared at the black sports car disappearing through the gate. His expression turned unreadable, but a sharp glint flickered in his eyes. He pulled out his phone and dialed Loke.

Vespera woke up to the overwhelming stench of gasoline. It made her stomach churn. The sticky, greasy liquid soaked her clothes, her skin, and even her hair. It clung to her like an invisible weight, cold and suffocating. She was sitting against something soft, possibly a couch. Her hands and feet were tightly bound with duct tape. Everything around her was pitch black.

As her eyes adjusted to the darkness, the outlines of the room gradually became clearer. She took in the layout—the large floor-to-ceiling windows in front of her, the semi-circular couch, two staggered round coffee tables, and the doorway facing east. One familiar shape after another. This was her living room. No—technically, that was the home she had shared with Luke. She had lived here for years. Every inch of this place was etched into her memory.

She wondered, “Who took me? And why bring me here?” Memories of the sudden attack flashed through her mind, sharp and jarring; it felt like a nightmare. She had been extremely careful. Yet somehow, she had still fallen into their trap. She struggled to move, trying to stand, but her body wouldn’t respond. Her fingers were completely numb, and when she tried to call out, she realized her mouth was taped shut.

The sharp sound of heels clicking echoed from outside the living room. A petite figure emerged from the shadows. Even though her face wasn’t entirely visible, Vespera instantly knew who it was—Tina. Vespera’s body went rigid. She stopped struggling.

Tina sauntered over and settled beside her, leaning in close, absently clicking a sleek metal lighter in her hands.

“I wasted the whole day just to abduct you,” she murmured, her voice a chilling blend of sweetness and malice. The sleek metal lighter snapped open and shut with a sharp click. A small flame flickered at her fingertips, flaring to life before vanishing again. The glow cast fleeting shadows across Tina’s delicate face—one moment illuminated, the next swallowed by darkness.
