Chapter 117
The call went through, but Vespera didn't answer. Earlier, she mentioned she had already parked in the garage. That meant she had already entered the elevator. The call rang for a moment before ending on its own. Something wasn’t right.
Rebecca reached for her car keys before leaving the house. On the way to Vespera’s home, she looked up Dominic’s number. She had been brazen enough to ask for his number at the noodle shop back then. Dominic also lived in the same area. He could go downstairs and have a look.
Rebecca called Dominic, who answered within ten seconds. She then heard him speak in a clear, mellow voice. “Hello.” Rebecca did not waste time drooling over his magnetic voice. Without making small talk, she got straight to the point.
“Mr. Reid, could you help me contact the property management? Vera just entered the community a few minutes ago. She was talking to me halfway before hanging up. Now, she won’t even answer my call.”
“Sure, I’ll contact them right away.” Without waiting for Rebecca to thank him, Dominic ended the call.
At that moment, Dominic was at the Reid residence, sitting next to Samuel and Fawn. There were many pictures of young women displayed on the tablet on the…
After ending the call, Dominic got up and spoke politely to Samuel and Fawn. “I have something to handle, so I need to go now. I don’t have any objections to what you said. Let me know once you’ve made the arrangements.”
With that, Dominic strode out of the house.
Samuel exchanged a look with Fawn. Once Dominic was gone, Fawn said, “I think that was a woman’s voice.”
“Don’t get excited just because you heard a woman’s voice. Look at how aloof he is. Does that look like someone who likes her?”
“Perhaps he’ll grow fond of her over time?”
“Back then, you said Dominic liked Nancy, but look what happened. You intentionally arranged for him to go to Seloria so they could get to know each other. Nowadays, Nancy always bursts into tears whenever she sees me.”
“Could Dominic be interested in men?” Fawn muttered to herself. She could cry out of exasperation. “Do you know what happened? I ran into that punk from the Lacke family when I was back at Riverdale. He said Dominic likes hanging out with him. Last winter, they spent ten days together at Shawford!”
Samuel had no idea what Fawn meant. “What’s the problem?”
Fawn’s cheeks went red, looking embarrassed. “That punk. He’s known to be into men. I heard he really likes handsome men who are in good shape.”
Shock was written all over Samuel’s face, and his gaze darkened.
Fawn asked, “Now you know why I’m more anxious than ever, right? I don’t ask much of my future daughter-in-law. As long as she’s a woman, and Dominic likes her, that’s fine! It’d be better than a…”
Samuel clutched his chest. “Stop it. Stop talking. Let me breathe, okay? I have a weak…”
Dominic walked outside the Reid residence. Raymond was surprised to see him leaving the house so quickly. He was about to ask when Dominic raised a hand to stop him, looking rather stern. He was making a call while walking toward the car.
Dominic contacted the property management first and explained everything that had happened. The management explained that they would check the footage and send someone to check out the garage.
Then, Dominic gave a call to the person he ordered to protect Vespera’s surveillance.
“She suddenly lost connection with her friend while on the call in the garage. Go and have a look.”
“Sure.” Calvert drove into the community while saying, “I watched her drive to the garage. It’s been about ten minutes.”
“I didn’t follow her into the garage. Also, I’m not sure whose lackey exposed himself at the service area. Ms. Gildon was speeding all the way back home, but the person didn’t follow her into the community.”
Dominic didn’t say a word. He had an idea who had sent someone to follow Vespera.
After ending the call, Dominic got into the car. Raymond shut the door for him before quickly getting into the driver’s seat. “Ms. Gildon is already in the community. How could you not track her? Our security has always been very strict.”
“The security is strict with outsiders, but not to the homeowners. What if the person lives there?”
“Why would a resident do that?”
Lake bought a house in the same community so he could gain entry into the area. I gave Calvert access to enter the area so he could go in as well. Anyone who wants to go into the area will always find a way.”
Hayrund understood immediately.
As Calvert drove into the garage at the community, a black sports car drove past him in the opposite direction.
