Luke had arrived. As soon as Tina saw him, her eyes lit up instantly. “Luke!” She got up and ran toward him cheerfully.
Luke, who was about ten feet away from Tina, raised his hand to block her from coming any closer. The disdain in his eyes was evident as he dodged her. Without even looking at the Sowles, Luke strode toward Henry and Telicia. He gazed at her and asked, “Who gave you the idea to spout these baseless lies?”
“Are you thinking I haven’t made enough mistakes? Perhaps you assume I’ve not been embarrassed enough?”
Felicia looked at Luke wordlessly as her eye twitched.
Meanwhile, the Sowles’ expressions darkened. What did Luke mean by that? While it seemed like he was speaking to Felicia, he was actually talking to the Sowles. The Munozes could have stayed out of the Instagram incident, yet they chose to expose themselves. The public was completely unaware and had assumed that the Munoz and Sowle families were old friends. Even those within the circle who were aware of the incident at the charity gala would have thought both families had reached an agreement. But only the Munozes and Sowles knew that it was the Sowle family who talked Felicia into hosting the press conference.
While it seemed like Luke was telling off Felicia, he was actually scolding the Sowle family.
“No one made me say anything. Seeing how things have escalated to this point, I’ve decided that we can’t leave Tina hanging,” Felicia said to Juiffy. “If you two want to get married in style, we must turn things around. I had no choice but to come up with a press conference. I did this for everyone.”
Without saying a word, Luke narrowed his eyes coldly and stared at Telicia in confusion. After the incident at the charity gala, Felicia refused to even let Tina enter the Munoz residence. Only a few days had passed. Why did Telicia change her mind? Henry spoke up, “What’s done is done, so stop criticizing your mom. The most important thing is to focus on the next step.”
After Henry finished speaking, Luke hadn’t even uttered a word when Claire spoke in agreement. “Exactly. We’ll be in-laws soon.”
“It takes two to tango in a relationship. My daughter may be slightly willful, but your son isn’t innocent either. You can’t just let my daughter bear the burden alone.”
“Also, Tina thought Vespera was Luke’s ex-girlfriend and was completely unaware that they were secretly married. Luke’s at fault for keeping his marriage a secret.”
“The recent events have really hurt Tina. My family is struggling to hold our heads high in public. No matter what, Luke should make it up to Tina.” After the incident at the charity gala, the Bowels actually seemed eager for Luke and Tina to separate. After all, everyone in the circle had seen what happened. Even if Luke and Tina got married, everyone in the circle would remember their shameful past.
No one expected that the Instagram post would make waves. Within a night, the entire Halewick and even the whole world knew that Tina was a mistress.
For the past three days, Tina kept throwing a tantrum, threatening to take her own life since she couldn’t live without Luke. So, the Sowles couldn’t let things be. Once Claire finished speaking, Henry became lost in thought, trying to formulate a response. But Luke replied, “I won’t divorce Vespera, nor will I ever marry your daughter!”
Tina paled instantly at his words, and Claire’s expression darkened. The atmosphere in the dining room had instantly turned tense. Everyone seemed to be on edge. Everyone had already agreed to the wedding except for Luke. Their cheerful conversation earlier seemed rather ironic.
Austin stood up and pulled a chair aside. He lowered his voice as he tried to advise Luke. “It’s too late for you to act devoted. By now, Vespera decidedly despises you and your family. There’s no way you’ll ever reconcile with her. Tina’s infatuated with you and won’t marry anyone else. Marrying her will only benefit you.”
Luke remarked stubbornly, “I said what I said.”
Austin sputtered, “You…”
