Chapter 45: Opheliaโs Little Tricks
Ophelia sat on the customer rest sofa, legs elegantly crossed, engrossed in her phone, completely ignoring their intentions.
Gianna: โOphelia!โ
Ophelia raised her stunningly beautiful face and lazily asked, โIs there something?โ
โCome here quickly, itโs time to pay!โ
โYou paid? What does it have to do with me?โ Ophelia raised an eyebrow and asked in confusion.
Gianna and a few classmates exchanged glances, snorted coldly, and suddenly pushed their chosen clothes toward the counter.
โWe had already cut off the tags from the clothes, and we had to buy them today!โ
Gianna looked at Ophelia with pride.
Hmph, as if she didnโt know what she was up to! She heard everything from the conversation between the servant and the shop assistant while she was in the fitting room! The store rule was that once the tag was cut, the item could not be returned or exchanged. Ophelia had actually manipulated the servants and shop assistants into saying she wouldnโt pay and that they should return the items themselves.
Ah, now she had cut off all the tags, and Ophelia found it impossible for them not to pay! Ophelia looked at Giannaโs silly appearance and couldnโt help but laugh out loud. She crossed her arms and leaned back, saying, โI told you, Gianna, are you out of your mind? You bought the stuff yourself, you paid for it, canโt you understand?โ
Giannaโs expression changed suddenly. What did Ophelia want to do?! She didnโt have any money! Ophelia didnโt help pay, so what would happen to these clothes?!
The clerk glanced at Ophelia, then at Gianna, who had been speaking so grandly earlier. The smile faded a bit as the clerk urged Gianna, โMiss, would you like to pay in cash or by card?โ
Gianna looked a bit upset. โI didnโt bring any money; I just asked you to help me pay for it first. I would pay you back later!โ
Ophelia remained unmoved. โReally? Then return what you owe me first. I โhelpedโ you quite a few times before, and you havenโt paid me back even once. Altogether, it should be over ten million, right? Just round it downโฆ and give me back ten million!โ
โ-You want to give me ten million?!โ Gianna instantly lost her voice and widened her eyes.
Ophelia looked at her with a half-smile and asked, โWhatโs wrong? Is there a problem?โ
Gianna almost blurted out, โWhy should I return it?โ
Chapter 45: Opheliaโs Little Tricks
Ophelia had never intended to pay back the money she had โhelpedโ with before! Moreover, Ophelia had never asked her for it, so didnโt that imply she accepted it as a gift? Why did she suddenly want it back?!
โYou werenโt really planning not to return it, were you?โ Ophelia narrowed her eyes slightly.
Immediately, the shop assistants looked at Gianna with a somewhat strange gaze, revealing a clear disdain. Just a moment ago, she was so generous that she let several of her classmates pick and choose freely, and she even thought she was using her own money!
Giannaโs expression was somewhat strained. โItโs not that Iโm not going to pay you back; itโs just that itโs not convenient for me right now! Please help me cover this time, and Iโll pay you back when I get home!โ
Ophelia said bluntly, โDo I look like a fool?โ In the past, she hadnโt returned it, so how could I expect her to return it later?
Gianna choked.
Ophelia leisurely said, โSorry, I donโt believe you. Please pay for yourself this time!โ
The clerk immediately smiled at Gianna, waiting for her to make the payment.
Gianna was so angry that she almost spat blood. She was only able to act so recklessly because she saw Ophelia, that big fool, here. If it were her, it would have been one million four hundred forty thousand! How could she afford that?!
โMiss, how did you plan to make the payment?โ the clerk urged again.
Gianna broke out in a cold sweat, and her face began to turn pale.
Ophelia chuckled softly.
Gianna heard it and suddenly realized something. She turned her head sharply and said angrily, โ-You did it on purpose!โ
Ophelia smiled, tilted her head, and said in a sweet voice, โSorry, what did you say? I couldnโt understand.โ
Gianna was exasperated. โYou did it on purpose! You deliberately tricked me into cutting off the tagโโ
โWhen did I ever lie to you? If you are referring to what Lily said to the shop assistant, then thatโs exactly what I meant. I never intended to pay for you; you were the one who thought you were clever and cut off the price tag. How is that my fault?โ
Gianna was left speechless.
The shop assistant smiled and subtly urged, โMiss?โ
Gianna was so anxious that she was sweating. One hundred forty-four thousand was nothing for Ophelia, but it was not a small amount for her; she simply couldnโt come up with it! She shot a resentful glance at Ophelia, gritted her teeth, and turned to a few classmates, saying, โI didnโt bring any money today, so letโs split the bill for now!โ
The few people immediately changed their expressions and reluctantly said, โGianna, didnโt you say you would treat us? Why do we still have to pay?โ
Gianna frowned, looking a bit unhappy. โI didnโt bring any money, did I? Whatโs wrong with splitting it first?โ
The few people glanced at Ophelia but did not move, spreading their hands. It sounded nice, but wasnโt there a precedent here? Ophelia had โhelpedโ so many times, yet she had never returned the favor! Ophelia did not lack that more than ten million, but they lacked those hundreds of thousands! Those who could come to curry favor with Gianna were naturally from ordinary families; who could afford to take out so much?
Moreoverโ
โOur total was only over six hundred thousand, while yours alone was over eight hundred thousand. How could that be evenly distributed?โ
Gianna couldnโt believe it. โHavenโt I bought you guys a lot of things before? Now you are unwilling to help me just this once?!โ
The few people were immediately choked. Ophelia watched them argue and felt extremely pleased. If she had some sunflower seeds in her hand, she would have started to crack them open. Gianna had a vague impression of these classmates; they were all people from each otherโs small circle, and they had benefited a lot by currying favor with Giannaโof course, the money was all deducted from her Ophelia! From the moment Gianna generously let them choose things, their skilled demeanor made it clear what kind of people they were!
Chapter 45: Opheliaโs Little Tricks
The argument in the store attracted quite a few passersby. After hearing a couple of sentences, someone sneered, โOh my gosh, is it really that they came here to shop without any money? How could they have the courage to come here without money? Donโt they know that everything sold on this floor is a luxury item?โ
The disdain and mockery in that tone made Giannaโs face flush. She glared at the mastermind behind it all with hatred.
โOphelia! Youโโ
Ophelia looked up from her phone, her voice clear and pleasant as she lazily interrupted, โYou better think of a solution quickly. The store clerk is already calling the manager. If you donโt pay soon, you might find yourself online tomorrow. I wonder how the media would write it? โMs. Conrad flaunts wealth at a luxury store, but ends up unable to pay the bill?โโ
Giannaโs face turned alternately pale and red. She glared at those stingy classmates with anger and had to run to the side to call home.
โWhat? Over a million?!โ On the phone, Giannaโs mother, Penelope Conrad, let out a scream.
