Listen to this chapter:

Yale saw Rachelโ€™s brow twitch; he knew that he had said something wrong and quickly corrected himself. โ€œMs. Lloyd, donโ€™t misunderstand me. I didnโ€™t mean that. I just meant thatโ€ฆ Mr. Hunt isnโ€™t someone like that.โ€

Rachel asked, โ€œThen what about Ms. Charlton?โ€

โ€œMs. Charltonโ€ฆโ€ Yale bowed his head, unsure of what to say next. He whispered with uncertainty, โ€œI donโ€™t know about Ms. Charlton.โ€

โ€œBut you should be able to tell that Ms. Charlton likes Mr. Hunt, right?โ€ Rachel probed, as though seeking affirmation.

Yaleโ€™s voice went a pitch higher. โ€œLike? Sheโ€™s obsessed with Mr. Hunt! You may not know this, Ms. Lloyd, but she didnโ€™t just start liking Mr. Hunt. She liked Mr. Hunt since they started working together overseas. Everyone in our company knows about it.โ€

โ€œHow long have they been working with each other?โ€ Rachel asked, curious.

โ€œAbout three years,โ€ Yale replied, rubbing his chin as though deep in thought.

Rachel was surprised to hear his answer. โ€œThree years overseas, added to the three to four years after Tylerโ€™s return. Thatโ€™s a total of six to seven years!โ€

She couldnโ€™t tell that Anne loved Tyler so deeply and for so long. Even she couldnโ€™t guarantee that she could love a single person for so long, and on an unrequited basis. Anne probably knew that Tyler didnโ€™t like her the same way. If he did, he would have been with her a long time ago.

However, all these had nothing to do with Rachel. Conversely, she should find the situation rather unsettling. Since she and Tyler were still bound by contractual terms, they were technically still a couple. Rachel couldnโ€™t reject Tylerโ€™s request to be intimate with her.

Upon the termination of the contract, Tyler had the freedom to like and be with another woman. It would be none of Rachelโ€™s business. Things were different now, however. They were still together; the thought of Tyler being intimate with her and Anne made goosebumps rise on her arms.

Rachel immediately came to another decision. โ€œTo protect Tyler, we should make them stay downstairs where the main hall is. Anne wouldnโ€™t dare do anything bold in public.โ€

โ€œBut what if she intoxicates Mr. Hunt and tries to bring him to a hotel room? And Ms. Lloyd, if youโ€™re truly worried that something will happen between Mr. Hunt and Ms. Charlton, why did you agree to let them go on a date in the first place? You really shouldnโ€™t underestimate what a woman can do when sheโ€™s into a man.โ€

Rachel didnโ€™t have the capacity to consider so much at that time. She didnโ€™t expect things between Tyler and Anne to progress so quickly.

But by now, whatever Yale pointed out to her was meaningless.

โ€œIโ€™ll explain things to you next time. We should be thinking of a way to move them from downstairs to the hall.โ€

Yale stuck his hands in his pockets and paced around the room. โ€œMs. Lloyd, how about this? Letโ€™s just tell the bar owner that an important patron needs the room and have him move Mr. Hunt to the hall downstairs.โ€

Rachel shook her head. โ€œI donโ€™t think thatโ€™ll work. Think about itโ€“if Anne is bent on being with Mr. Hunt, how could she let the owner move them downstairs?โ€

What Rachel said made sense.

โ€œIn that case, I really donโ€™t have any ideas. Ms. Lloyd, what about you?โ€

Rachel pursed her lips. โ€œIf thereโ€™s really nothing else we can do, thereโ€™s only one way.โ€

Yale asked with curiosity, โ€œWhat is it?โ€

Rachel leaned in close to Yale and told him her plan.

โ€œHuh?!โ€ Yale exclaimed in shock. โ€œMs. Lloyd, are you sure this will work? What if the owner doesnโ€™t play along with us?โ€

He found it a very risky plan.
