Chapter 681
Tyler typed out a message. It read like a threat: โ[Jason, you must be too idle these days. Do you want me to tell your old man to ship you overseas for a while?]โ
Jason immediately went quiet.
Luke stepped in to calm Tyler down. โ[Alright, let me give you some advice. You should approach this from two angles. Firstly, push her a little. Secondly, make it clear that youโre serious about herโthat this isnโt some casual game. By โpush,โ I mean forcing her to confront her own feelings. Iโve met plenty of women like her. They clearly care but wonโt admit it. Honestly, thatโs exactly how Rachel is.]โ
Tyler thought it over. Lukeโs words made sense.
Rachel was the type to get tangled up, always caught between holding on and letting go.
Tyler wasnโt someone who wasted time. Once he had the answer, he stopped replying altogether.
Jason noticed the silence and even tagged him a couple of times, but there was still no response.
โ[I knew it! He treats us like a vending machine. Once he gets what he needs, he disappears.]โ
Luke replied with a laughing emoji. โ[Thatโs just who he is. We should be used to it by now. But honestly, I donโt think heโs fully won her over yet.]โ
Jason sent a sighing emoji. โ[Guess all we can say is, the road to winning her over is a long one. Good luck to her.]โ
After pocketing his phone, Tyler mapped out a strategy in his mind. With a plan in mind, he finally felt settled.
Just then, Wanda walked out of the kitchen.
โDinnerโs ready.โ
Tyler stood up and headed toward the stairs. โWanda, come eat with us.โ
Wanda froze. The Lewis family had strict rules: Maids didnโt sit at the same table as the family. Rachel had invited her before, but never when Tyler was around.
Wanda waved it off politely. โNo, thank you. Iโll eat elsewhere. Itโs the same.โ
Tyler didnโt press on. He continued upstairs and was about to knock on Rachelโs door when he heard her voice from inside.
โJerry, I told you, itโs not the right time yet. Youโve only just gotten back. Iโll handle things with Yvette. You donโt need to worry. I know you donโt want to leave me. After all these years working together, through everything weโve faced, you know me well enough. We have to finish whatโs already on our plate first.โ
On the other end, Jerry sounded anxious.
โBut Rachel, what if you canโt bring yourself to walk away when the time comes?โ
โAs if! Donโt worry about me. We still have our own plans, donโt we?โ
โGot it.โ
The call ended.
Rachel sighed, reached for the door, and nearly walked straight into Tyler.
They both froze. Shock flickered in Rachelโs eyes.
โWโWhat are you doing here?โ
Tyler acted as if he hadnโt heard a thing. โWanda asked me to let you know dinnerโs ready.โ
โOkay.โ
Rachel nodded, closed the door behind her, and followed him downstairs. She couldnโt shake the feeling that something was off.
Heโd been standing there the second she opened the door. Had he overheard her call with Jerry?
She didnโt dare ask. If she brought it up, sheโd only draw more suspicion.
Tyler wasnโt like anyone else. His instincts cut sharper than most.
