Chapter 660
โRachel, donโt you think itโs time to admit it? You really are the curse of the Lloyd family! If it werenโt for you, would the old man have been so angry that he ended up in the hospital?โ Sasha went on.
Rachel didnโt even think before snapping back. โAnd whose fault is that, really? Yours! When I asked you to step outside with me, you refused. If you had come with me, he wouldnโt have overheard those words, and none of this wouldโve happened. I might bear the main responsibility, but are you really going to say youโre not at fault at all?โ
Sasha frowned. She was flat-out refusing to admit any fault. โRachel, can you stop pushing the blame on me every time something happens? What, are you trying to pick a fight with me now?โ
Rachel was tired of arguing with someone like Sasha. โForget it. I donโt feel like wasting my breath. Grandpaโs already in the hospitalโbetter to focus on his health.โ
With that, she turned around to leave and find the doctor.
Sasha, relentless as ever, called after her, โRachel, Iโm telling you, you canโt wash your hands of this! Youโre responsible, and you have an obligation. You must take responsibility. My advice is to give up on the Lloyd familyโs inheritance sooner rather than later.โ
Rachel didnโt even acknowledge her rant, treating her words as nothing more than hot air.
Still, Sashaโs words lingered in her mind.
She really was worried that she might have triggered Geraldโs collapse. Although she felt little affection for him, she couldnโt disregard Jimโs feelings. Jim didnโt have much time left. She couldnโt risk being the cause of something worse happening to Gerald on top of that.
Just as Rachel was about to find Geraldโs attending doctor, Leia walked over.
โMs. Rachelโฆโ
โWhat is it?โ
Rachel always had a good impression of Leia. Most of the Lloyd maids only fawned over whoever held power in the household, but Leia was different.
Leia had once worked for Rachelโs mother, and they had known each other for many years. Because of that, Leia had always taken special care of Rachel.
Leia glanced warily into the hospital room before leaning in to whisper in Rachelโs ear.
โHereโs what happened. After you left, Ms. Dawson argued with Mr. Gerald. He got so furious that it nearly did him in. Then Mr. Howard added a few harsh words, and thatโs when Mr. Gerald collapsed.โ
Rachelโs eyes widened in sudden realization.
So it wasnโt her fault! Sasha had pushed Gerald over the edge.
A frosty glint flickered in her eyes. She smiled coldly.
Well done, Sasha! That woman tried to pin the blame on Rachel when it was really her and Howard who had driven Gerald into this state.
Rachel gave Leia a grateful look.
โLeia, thank goodness you told me this today.โ
Leia clasped Rachelโs hand with sympathy.
โYou truly are loyal and kindhearted. Anyone else would have cut ties with this family long ago, but I can see it. You may say you donโt want anything to do with the Lloyds, but deep down, you still care.โ
โLeia, I know I shouldnโt say this, but I feel I mustโfor your own future,โ Rachel replied. โYouโve seen my fatherโs condition. He doesnโt have much time left. And as for Grandpa, you know his health even better than I do.โ
