Chapter 649

Rachel didnโ€™t bother with politeness anymore. A woman like Sasha didnโ€™t deserve her respect.

Had Sasha treated Jim even halfway decently, knowing the kind of man he was, he never wouldโ€™ve left her with nothing.

Unfortunately, her greed was boundless.

Rachelโ€™s eyes narrowed with disdain.

โ€œSasha, letโ€™s cut to the chase. You and I both know that even if my dad goes through more tests, and even if the doctors say heโ€™s under stress, it doesnโ€™t change the fact that heโ€™s perfectly sane. His mind is sharp, and he hasnโ€™t done anything irrational. That means his will is valid. End of story.โ€

Sasha scoffed, brushing her off. โ€œPlease. You think Iโ€™m going to buy that? If your dadโ€™s unstable, then his will doesnโ€™t stand. Something like that canโ€™t be left to one person. It has to be discussed by the whole family.โ€

Rachel glanced coldly at her. โ€œDiscuss it with whom? You? A woman on the verge of divorce? Tell me, Sasha, whatโ€™s there to discuss with you?โ€

โ€œSo what if Iโ€™m divorcing him? Right now, Iโ€™m still his legal wife!โ€ Sasha shot back, her tone defiant.

Seeing she wasnโ€™t going to back down, Rachel stopped wasting words and went straight for the kill. โ€œFine. Call your psychiatrist friend. Ask him yourself. With my dadโ€™s condition, what would further tests actually show? And while youโ€™re at it, call a lawyer. Find out whether his will can still be executed.โ€

The facts were undeniable, and Rachel wasnโ€™t going to play games.

Sasha hesitated, but Rachelโ€™s confidence rattled her. She finally called Defino and repeated Rachelโ€™s questions.

His answer was blunt.

โ€œMs. Lloyd is right. At most, your husband is under stress with mild depressive symptoms and requires some treatment. That doesnโ€™t make him legally incompetent. The will would still hold, with maybe only minor changes.โ€

Sashaโ€™s eyes widened in shock. โ€œWhat? Are you saying everything we planned is useless? Youโ€™re the one who told me that if he was found mentally unstable, his will wouldnโ€™t count!โ€

โ€œI did, but that only applies if heโ€™s truly mentally unsound and not just showing stress or mild depression. In this case, the impact is minimal.โ€

Sasha felt her last hope shatter. Her earlier smugness evaporated, leaving her pale and stunned.

Rachel took the chance to press her advantage.

โ€œSasha, you were with my dad for years. Why donโ€™t we end this clean? Take your share and go. Weโ€™ll make sure you and your kid are taken care of. It doesnโ€™t have to get uglier than this.โ€

Sasha gripped the railing, her face twisted with bitterness.

Watching that money slip through her fingers was unbearable, but if she kept pushing and something backfired, she might end up with nothing.

That thought gnawed at her.

Finally, she lifted her head and asked flatly, โ€œHow much are you offering?โ€

โ€œTwo million,โ€ Rachel said without hesitation.

Jerry had run the numbers on their way over, factoring in Sasha and her childโ€™s past expenses. It wasnโ€™t perfect, but it was more than fair.
