Chapter 626 +15 BONUS
After Rachel, Cecilia, and Jerry had everything prepared, Cecilia received a call from Yvette. Cecilia was surprised by the incoming call, but wasnโt intending to answer it.
When Rachel noticed the slight shift in Ceciliaโs face, she leaned over and glanced at her phone screen. โArenโt you off work today?โ she asked, slightly confused.
Lloyd Enterprise was relatively lax with its employees. As long as they completed their work, superiors usually wouldnโt call during the weekends.
Cecilia found it strange, too. โI donโt know. Weโre supposed to be on a break today. I donโt know why Yvette is choosing to call at this time.โ
โAnswer it. Otherwise, she might have something to use against you.โ Yvette was soon going to be demoted to a manager and would no longer be in the projects department. Since she would soon have no authority over Cecilia, they could bear with it for now.
Cecilia put her phone on the table, swiped right to answer it, and switched it on to loudspeaker mode. โWhatโs the matter?โ
โCecilia, there are issues with two data points in the proposal you drew up last week. Iโm in the office right now. Please hurry over and correct it.โ
Cecilia pondered for a moment before explaining as gently as she could, โThatโs not possible. I checked through the figures before I left. They canโt be wrong.โ
Yvette didnโt hesitate to voice her displeasure. โWhat do you mean by that? Are you questioning my judgment? I told you I found problems with two data points, and youโre trying to argue with me?โ
Cecilia had the urge to roll her eyes at Yvette, but she suppressed the anger burning in her chest. Yvette was always picking on her, but she didnโt want to have a falling out with her since Rachel was the one who introduced her to this job opportunity. Whatโs more, given her current financial situation, she was indeed in need of this job.
โCan I go over tomorrow to make the amendments? Iโm occupied right now.โ
Yvette rejected her suggestion immediately. โI need it tomorrow. Also, are you thinking that since you have Rachel backing you up, you own the company and can ignore my orders? Iโm telling youโIโm still the vice president of the company right now. Rachel is just a shareholder. Aside from receiving dividends, she canโt interfere with any business decisions.โ
Yvette, provoked by Ceciliaโs attitude, started raising her voice. Rachel furrowed her brows.
โIf you donโt come to the office today, you can forget about coming to work tomorrow!โ Yvette screamed.
With that, she hung up.
Cecilia was stunned; she went silent for two seconds before bursting out laughing. โDoes that woman have a screw loose? Or is she going through menopause? Flaring up like this over nothing!โ
Rachel patted her shoulder. โHurry on to the office and correct those two figures like she asked. You can always come back again laterโmaybe bring back some tasty snacks for us.โ
โAlright. Iโll be off, then.โ Cecilia pouted, very reluctant to leave. However, she had no choice as she couldnโt yet pit herself against Yvette.
As she packed her things and stood up, Rachel broke the news. โI have some good news for you, by the way. Yvette will be moved to a managerial position. Sheโll be in a different department from yours. She wouldnโt be involved in any of the companyโs projects. In other words, sheโll just have an empty title and receive a salary, thatโs all.โ
Ceciliaโs eyes lit up at Rachelโs news. โAre you serious? Is the news reliable?โ
โMy dad told me that himself. Itโs absolutely trustworthy.โ
