Chapter 618
โYes, family has the right to decide whether a patient should continue with a treatment. From a doctorโs perspective, I think thereโs no need to keep him in the hospital and make him go through this torture when things have come to this point. Stay with him during his final days,โ Xavier said.
โOkay.โ
After Xavier left, Rachel returned to her ward. Tyler could tell at a glance that something was troubling her.
โWhatโs wrong? Something on your mind?โ
Rachel was lost in her thoughts, but she quickly recovered. She shook her head, pretending that everything was fine.
โNothing. Dr. Jenkins updated me about my father just now, and Iโm planning to bring him home.โ
Rachel was wondering about a more suitable place for Jim to settle down in, and if she should let him return to the Lloyds.
She hadnโt quite decided on that yet. Her relationship with the Lloyds right now was in tatters, what with her grandfatherโs hostile attitude toward her, treating her like an outsider.
She refused to be bullied into submission or take anything lying down. The noxious atmosphere at the Lloyds would certainly be a bane for Jimโs health.
Tyler suggested, โWhy donโt we take your father back to our place?โ
โWhat?โ
Rachel looked up at Tyler in disbelief. โWhat did you say?โ
Tyler held Rachelโs shoulders. โI said, why donโt we take your father back to our place? Although itโs a little secluded, the view is great. He can sit outside on the lawn to fish and enjoy the scenery.โ
Rachel didnโt expect Tyler to make such a suggestion. Her heart started racing as she blinked in surprise. โButโฆ will it affect you? You know about my fatherโs condition right nowโฆโ
Tyler was about to pat Rachelโs head; Rachel could sense it coming, given the many times that he had done so. She shot him a warning glare.
He retracted his arm at her warning.
โIโm just patting your head. Iโll stop if you hate it so much.โ
Rachel was about to heave a sigh of relief when Tyler suddenly pressed her head against his chest, rubbing the top of her head hard as though she were a lump of dough.
She instinctively yelped, struggling against his hold.
โTyler! Are you crazy?โ
Tyler joked around with Rachel for a while before saying, โDo as I suggested earlier. Donโt worry about anything else. Iโll make the arrangements.โ
With that, he called Yale over.
โGo through the discharge procedures for Mr. Lloyd and bring his things to my apartment. Tell Wanda to prepare the guest room on the first floor.โ
โYes, sir.โ
Rachelโs impression of Tyler soared. He wasnโt as careless or nonchalant as he always portrayed himself to be. Conversely, she found him very thoughtful.
He knew about Jimโs condition and was aware that staying in a room upstairs would make getting around very inconvenient. A room on the first floor would be much better for her father.
She grabbed Tylerโs hand, rubbing gently against his knuckles.
โThank you, Tyler.โ
Tyler arched a brow. โReally wanna thank me?โ
Rachel caught the mischievous glint flashing in his eyes; a sense of foreboding overtook her. However, she didnโt want to be so petty with him when he had done her such a huge favor. She really should thank him this time.
โTell me. How do you want me to show my appreciation?โ
