Chapter 616

At the mention of his company, Tylerโ€™s eyes turned solemn.

โ€œYou donโ€™t need to worry about that. I have my ways.โ€

Rachel knew from Tylerโ€™s tone that Steven had really gone all out this time. She didnโ€™t pursue the matter with Tyler. She knew how prideful he was, especially with Yale around.

Xavier soon found them after they returned to the hospital. โ€œI rushed over the moment I heard the news! Whatโ€™s with the two of you, doing a disappearing act?โ€

Tyler gave him a half-smile. โ€œWe had something to attend to.โ€

Xavier gave Tyler a knowing look as he surveyed him from head to toe. โ€œSomething to attend to? Tell me, what are you capable of doing in your current state?โ€

Xavier had the knack of nagging endlessly when he was in the mood. โ€œItโ€™s bad enough that you left the hospital while injured. Why did you take her with you, too? How is the hospital going to bear the consequences if anything happens to you both?โ€

Tyler looked unsympathetically at Xavier. โ€œYouโ€™re getting naggier with age, just like my late grandmother.โ€

Tyler found his grandmother naggyโ€”she was still naggy even at her deathbed. Her words still rang in his mind, as though he had just heard them yesterday.

Instead of replying to Xavierโ€™s question, Tyler looked expressionlessly at him with an impatient gaze. The air between them turned awkward.

Tyler refused to give him a response despite Xavierโ€™s nagging. Xavier naturally could understand that, given Tylerโ€™s temperament. However, what made him even angrier was that Tyler didnโ€™t even bother to deign him a look. Tyler simply ignored him.

Xavier pursed his lips, his face dark with displeasure. He opened his mouth to speak again.

โ€œYouโ€ฆโ€

โ€œDr. Jenkins, ummโ€ฆ Mr. Hunt had work to do. Something urgent cropped up at work, and he had to attend to it in person.โ€ Rachel took the initiative to explain the situation before Xavier blew up, which helped to ease the tension between the two men.

Xavier and Tyler were close enough to do away with pleasantries, but Xavier was naturally more polite to Rachel.

โ€œMs. Lloyd, I can understand if Tyler has things to do and places to go while hospitalized. Heโ€™s used to being independent and doing whatever he pleases. He takes everyone elseโ€™s advice as hot air. As for you, Iโ€™ve consulted your attending doctor. Although you didnโ€™t bear any external injuries, you suffered a major shock. Donโ€™t underestimate such trauma. You require rest and recuperation.โ€

Rachel knew that Xavier had good intentions. Although he was a tad too naggy, it was out of concern for them. She nodded and said, โ€œI know, Dr. Jenkins. We really shouldnโ€™t have snuck out of the hospital this time. We wonโ€™t do it again.โ€

Rachelโ€™s meek and submissive demeanor made Xavier feel much better. He tilted his chin in Tylerโ€™s direction.

โ€œSee that, Tyler? Thatโ€™s how you talk to peopleโ€”unlike you, looking at others down your nose.โ€

Tyler stared at him nonchalantly. โ€œThatโ€™s because sheโ€™s more courteous and patient than I am. And why should I talk so nicely to another man like you? What if my girlfriend misunderstands?โ€

Xavier almost rolled his eyes.

Rachel tugged at the hem of Tylerโ€™s shirt, feeling extremely awkward. โ€œTyler, quit your nonsense!โ€

Tyler stretched his arms, looking helpless. โ€œI really canโ€™t get it through to you two. Youโ€™re not on the same level as I am. Go back and train yourselves before coming back to me again.โ€

With that, he tilted his chin up haughtily and limped back into his ward.
