Rachel had never felt this way before, but now she did. Tyler would fight for what he wanted, no matter what, and he wasnโ€™t afraid to go up against anyone.

He pulled Rachel into his arms, making his stance crystal clear to everyone in the room.

โ€œDo you see it now? Your disapproval means nothing. I didnโ€™t bring her back for your judgment. I brought her back for you to accept herโ€”not that it matters either way.โ€

Cassandra stepped forward, trying to talk some sense into Tyler. โ€œTyler, I get that you like Rachel, but this relationship is a little complicated, isnโ€™t it? Why donโ€™t you two break up? If youโ€™re looking for a certain type, I can introduce you. That cousin of yours wasnโ€™t so bad, right?โ€

Tylerโ€™s response was firm. โ€œLet me say this one more time. I only want Rachel.โ€

That finally pushed William over the edge. โ€œTyler, she was my wife! What if we hadnโ€™t divorced? Would you still be with her?โ€

Dressed in a sharp black suit, Tyler looked colder and more imposing than usual. Without a word, he grabbed William by the collar and stared him down.

โ€œWilliam, do you really want to embarrass yourself like this in front of everyone? Donโ€™t you know why you and Rachel got married?โ€

A flicker of guilt flashed across Williamโ€™s eyes.

โ€œOf course it was because we loved each other. Why else?โ€

Maybe the others couldnโ€™t tell, but Rachel knew William too well. After seven years together, she could read even the slightest twitch in his expression. Right now, that flicker of guilt was too obvious to miss.

She could tell William was still hiding something from her and stepped forward.

โ€œWilliam, tell me the truth. Did you lie to me back then?โ€

At this point, William couldnโ€™t even look at her. โ€œI donโ€™t know what youโ€™re talking about. Rachel, how could I have lied? You know how I treated you during our marriage.โ€

Rachel had her suspicions before, but she had never asked. Too much time had passed, and she thought it wouldnโ€™t change anything.

But now that Tyler brought it up again, she had to know.

โ€œLet me ask you againโ€“was it you who talked to the barbecue shop owner and had him move his stand in front of our school?โ€

William didnโ€™t even pause. โ€œOf course.โ€

Rachel didnโ€™t argue. โ€œAlright, if thatโ€™s your answer, then letโ€™s call him right now. Are you okay with that?โ€

William was stunned for a moment before he spoke. โ€œFine! If thatโ€™s how you feel, I donโ€™t mind. Let him clear things up.โ€

Rachel picked up her phone and pretended to dial, but before she could finish, Yale spoke up.

โ€œMr. Lewis, I think this has gone far enough. We all know it was Mr. Hunt who spoke to the shop owner. Thatโ€™s why the stand was moved in the first place. Itโ€™s one thing to take credit behind the scenes, but now, youโ€™re still pretending right in front of Mr. Hunt? Thatโ€™s just too much.โ€

Yale was clearly standing up for Tyler.

If William and Rachel were still married, maybe no one would care. Now that they were divorced and he was still trying to spin the story, Yale couldnโ€™t hold back.

William hadnโ€™t expected this sudden interference. Tyler was one thing, but his assistant? He wasnโ€™t about to be lectured by a nobody!

He pointed at Yale and snapped, โ€œWho the hell asked for your opinion? Quit running your mouth like you know everything!โ€

Rachel naturally believed Tyler. She knew him well enough to trust that he wouldnโ€™t lie about something like this.

Yale wasnโ€™t William. He had no reason to make something like this up, especially not in public.

The lies would unravel sooner or later.

Tyler hadnโ€™t planned to waste more time arguing, but Williamโ€™s attitude was getting on his last nerve. His voice dropped to a dangerous tone.

โ€œWilliam, keep causing a scene here, and donโ€™t blame me for not saving your face when things get ugly.โ€
