Chapter 514

As for the promise made by the young man you mentioned, consider it my apology to you.

Anton glared at me sullenly, his eyes filled with resentment, almost drowning me. Actually, looking at his eyes like that, I felt a bit sour and uncomfortable in my heart, and I would feel very guilty. But there was no way, I preferred Reynaldo more; I didnโ€™t want to make Reynaldo sad. I avoided eye contact, not daring to meet Antonโ€™s gaze, just pulling Reynaldo, wanting him to go back to the ward to rest.

Anton suddenly laughed at Reynaldo with a sinister tone, โ€œDonโ€™t forget, you promised my father to take care of Kimberly for the rest of her life.โ€

Reynaldo stopped in his tracks, without looking back, and said in a flat tone, โ€œDonโ€™t worry, as her brother, I will take care of her for the rest of my life.โ€

โ€œBut what she wanted was never sibling affection.โ€

โ€œBut I have always just treated her as a sister,โ€ Reynaldo said, taking my hand and intertwining our fingers. He turned to Anton and said, โ€œYou should know that Esmeralda has always been the one in my heart, and it has never changed.โ€

Anton stared at him heavily; the hatred in his eyes was so intense and terrifying.

โ€œYour mother stole my husband, and you stole my woman. You and your mother are reallyโ€ฆ despicable.โ€

โ€œAnton!โ€ I couldnโ€™t help but mutter under my breath.

Anton sneered and shot me a resentful glance before turning around and leaving.

Back in the ward, Reynaldo and I were both silent. I glanced at him and whispered, โ€œAs for what Anton said, donโ€™t take it to heart. The matters of the previous generation have nothing to do with you.โ€

โ€œMm,โ€ Reynaldo responded softly, without saying anything else.

I helped him to the bed and said to him, โ€œIโ€™ll go buy some food and be back soon.โ€

However, as I straightened up, Reynaldo suddenly grabbed my wrist. I looked at him in confusion and asked, โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong?โ€

The manโ€™s eyes were dark and gloomy, his mood a little low, looking at me hesitantly.

I smiled at him and said, โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong? Tell me.โ€

He pursed his lips before speaking, โ€œThat night at the class reunion, I was actually afraid that you would be taken away by someone else, so I used some means to forcibly establish a relationship with you.โ€ As Anton said, โ€œI was indeed cunning and despicable.โ€

โ€œOkay, I didnโ€™t blame you.โ€

If I had known this truth when I still disliked him very much, I would have despised him even more and looked down on him even more. Things are different now. I liked him now; he is in my heart and eyes. I bent down, wrapped my arms around his neck, and smiled at him, โ€œLuckily you made the first move back then, otherwise I would have become someone elseโ€™s wife.โ€

Reynaldo looked at me deeply and said, โ€œSo, I donโ€™t regret it at all; even if you hate me in the future, I donโ€™t regret doing this.โ€

โ€œI could never hate you.โ€ I kissed his lips.

It was obvious that the manโ€™s body stiffened, and the sadness and sorrow in his eyes slowly dissipated, finally turning into a glimmer of light. I looked into his eyes and said, โ€œReynaldo, even though I really disliked you when I was young and liked Anton, itโ€™s different now.โ€ I now clearly know that the one I like is only you. Even if later I remember the time of my youth, my heart will not change.

Reynaldoโ€™s eyes grew deeper, his low voice tense and suppressed: โ€œThis is what you said, donโ€™t lie to me again.โ€

Anton didnโ€™t say anything; he just turned around and walked towards the parking lot. After walking a few steps and seeing that I hadnโ€™t caught up, he couldnโ€™t help but chuckle and said, โ€œWhat? Are you afraid Iโ€™ll hurt you?โ€

โ€œNo,โ€ I said as I walked towards him.

He helped me so many times; even in a situation where he hated Reynaldo so much, he still saved Reynaldo for me. So, for him, I was trusted. But still, I couldnโ€™t help but feel doubtful in my heart.

Getting in the car, I couldnโ€™t help but ask him again, โ€œWhere exactly are you taking me?โ€

โ€œOnce you go, youโ€™ll know,โ€ Anton said lightly, then started the car.

Seeing that he had nothing to say, I stopped asking and just sent a message to Reynaldo on my phone. This phone was confiscated by Reynaldo when he imprisoned me before, and he didnโ€™t give it back to me until last night when he asked Johnathan to bring it to me. There were countless missed calls on my phone, most of them from Vonnie and my family. After Reynaldoโ€™s injuries stabilized, I wanted to go home to see my parents. I heard Quentin say before that my dadโ€™s investments were showing signs of improvement, but I donโ€™t know how they are now. I leaned back in the chair, my thoughts drifting.
