Chapter 497
Anton patted my back and frowned, saying, โYour clothes are all sweaty. I brought you some food. You eat first, and Iโll go find a nurse to get you a clean hospital gown.โ
He went out as soon as he finished speaking.
I stared blankly at the small table by the window, where there were two thermos boxes.
I walked over, opened the insulated lunch box, and a wave of delicious food aroma immediately hit my nose, stirring up the glutton in my stomach.
I quickly put the lid on and waited for Anton to come back.
Anton quickly came over, holding two sets of new hospital gowns in his hands.
He looked at me sitting by the window in a daze, and couldnโt help but pause: โWhy havenโt you eaten? Is the food I made not tasty?โ
I shook my head and said, โI wanted to wait for you to eat together.โ
Anton smiled at me and said, โNo need, I have already eaten. You go ahead.โ
He gave me the new hospital gown and said, โGo change your clothes first before eating.โ
I nodded and took the hospital gown, walking towards the bathroom.
I just had a nightmare, I almost donโt remember it anymore.
I vaguely remember dreaming about Winston, dreaming of him pleading with a mournful voice.
When I came out after changing my clothes, Anton was sitting by the window waiting for me.
He helped me open the insulated lunch box and smiled at me, saying, โI remember you used to love eating smoked spare ribs with honey when you were young. Itโs been so many years, I bet your taste hasnโt changed.โ
I walked past silently, the food in the insulated box still steaming hot; the smell of smoked spare ribs with honey was very fragrant.
Anton opened another thermos; inside was chicken soup. He poured a bowl for me with a small bowl, and then handed it to me.
I took a sip and felt much warmer all over, and the scare I had just experienced in the elevator had also dissipated a bit.
I looked up at Anton.
Anton suddenly tilted his head and smiled at me, saying, โWhatโs up? It seems like you have something to tell me.โ
After a pause, he chuckled to himself, โDonโt worry, Iโm not angry. Everyone has the right to like someone else, and I have no right to interfere with you.โ
โIf you like Reynaldo, then go ahead and like him. But when one day, you remember the time we spent together, and if you still say you like Reynaldo, then I will give up.โ
I pursed my lips and said, โWhat I want to tell you is not about this.โ
Anton furrowed his brows slightly, and after a moment, as if guessing something, he chuckled and said, โYou want to talk to me about Winston, donโt you?โ
I nodded and said, โDid you call the police, right?โ
Anton suddenly chuckled, โIt seems like you donโt want me to call the police. Why, feeling sorry for him?โ
โNo, itโs justโฆโ I still shudder at the scene in the elevator just now.
I whispered, โI saw him when he was taken away by the police.โ
Anton pursed his lips and remained silent.
I continued, โHe was in a very bad condition, he even begged me, begged me to let you see him. The pleading look in his eyes when he begged me, I still canโt forget it.โ
Anton averted his gaze and looked out the window, his tense profile revealing a hint of irritation.
He said, pulling his tie, โSo, you want to be a persuader and convince me to go see him.โ
