He was Reynaldoโs man, his brother. No matter who was right or wrong, he always sided with Reynaldo, prioritizing his interests.
I don't know how long passed before the car slowly stopped. I glanced sideways. Before me stood an opulent building, resembling a palace. Above the entrance, the words "Seabed Club" flashed with colorful lights. The entire building shone with a golden light, illuminating the dark sky.
Johnathan quickly exited the car and helped me open the door. He said, โReynaldo has rented the entire third floor; they're inside. Let's go quickly.โ
I nodded, supporting my weak body, and quickly followed him toward the magnificent golden gate. Johnathan was extremely anxious, walking rapidly. He paused, turning back to urge me, โHurry! I donโt know whatโs happening to Reynaldo. There are so many of them, and heโs alone. Even if he's a good fighter, he can't handle this by himself.โ
โWhy didnโt you call for more people?โ I replied lightly.
He hummed, โThis is Matthewโs territory. Whatโs the point?โ
โIโll take some punches for you guys. More people mean fewer punches landing on you, right?โ I said expressionlessly.
Johnathan chuckled. โYour idea is quite unique.โ
We quickly reached the third floor. It was much quieter than the floors below, with no one in the corridor.
I looked at Johnathan. โThey havenโt left, have they?โ
Johnathan furrowed his brow, worry etched on his face: โIโm afraid Matthew took Reynaldo elsewhere to torture him.โ
โDamn it! It would have been better if this happened in Freybourne!โ
I pursed my lips. I couldn't deny a surge of worry in my heart.
Johnathan hurried toward a room in the middle. I struggled to keep up. As he pushed open the heavy door, countless unfamiliar faces filled my viewโMatthewโs bodyguards.
This was an entertainment room, spacious and filled with various equipment. In the center sat a pool table, with Reynaldo and Matthew seated opposite each other.
The scene wasn't as chaotic as I'd imagined. Both men smiled, neither willing to yield in terms of momentum. The atmosphere was tense, heavy with the feeling of impending conflict.
When I appeared at the doorway, I saw Reynaldo's brows furrowed deeply. He then looked at Johnathan, his eyes filled with strong reproach, as if blaming him for bringing me.
Matthew glanced at me, leaned back, and smirked, โOh, look who decided to show up, the main character.โ
โCome on, quickly show Ms. Duffy a seat. Look at her, so weak; if she faints, I'll feel sorry for her.โ
โMatthew!โ Reynaldo warned coldly.
Matthew shrugged nonchalantly, โJust kidding. Mr. Humphrey is really stingy. Besides, sheโs no longer your wife. Do you still forbid her from being with other men?โ
โYou are too domineering; women will resent that.โ
Reynaldo ignored Matthew and stared intently at me. A bodyguard had already brought a chair, placing it opposite the pool table. My legs were so weak I could barely stand.
