Chapter 340
I opened my eyes wearily, my vision blurry. I saw Reynaldo pour a glass of water, then retrieve two fever-reducing capsules. No matter how confused my consciousness, subconsciously I still cared deeply about my baby and couldn't let anything happen to them. Just as before, I drank the water and then took the medicine in front of him. After putting me down, he stared at me for a moment before putting the cup away. I quickly spat out the melted medicine. But that wasn't a solution. If my fever persisted, he might continue giving me medicine or even take me to the hospital.
What should I do? The sky was already bright, sunlight streaming through the cracks in the curtains. Reynaldo walked over, noticing my eyes were open. He asked, โAre you feeling better?โ
I croaked, โI want to take a bath.โ
Reynaldo nodded. โWait a moment, Iโll get some water.โ He quickly set down the water and carried me into the bathtub. The warm water flowed over my skin, penetrating every cell, easing the soreness and fatigue. Reynaldo watched from the side; my body, underwater, was fully exposed.
I said with a straight face, โI want to drink water.โ
The man immediately poured me a glass, just as he had three years ago. He handed it to me, but I lacked the strength to lift my hands. He brought the cup to my lips and murmured, โLet me feed you.โ I obediently opened my mouth; he fed me slowly. It took a while to finish the water.
The warm water effectively relieved my discomfort, and my consciousness cleared slightly. After drinking, I lay in the tub, comfortably closing my eyes. But I felt Reynaldoโs intense gaze fixed on me. I slowly opened my eyes, meeting his dark eyes. I pursed my dry lips and whispered, โCan you go out for a moment?โ

โNo way!โ he coldly spat out.
I lowered my gaze, covering my chest, lacking the strength to argue. He sighed lightly and snorted, โItโs not like I havenโt seen it before, whatโs with the pretense?โ
I took a deep breath and pursed my lips, saying nothing. Even sick, he wouldnโt offer a kind word. The contrast highlighted Kimberly as his sweetheart; I was merely a tool to vent his anger and satisfy his physical needs.
Reynaldo checked the time. โIโll get up in twenty minutes. Itโs not good to soak too long.โ
I remained silent. His phone rang. He glanced at the caller ID and went outside. After a while, his gloomy voice drifted from outside: โMatthew?โ
Matthew? Why were they discussing Matthew? Was it work, or had he learned about Matthew bullying me last night? My head still swam; my temples throbbed. I closed my eyes, ceasing to dwell on it. Perhaps the warm water, coupled with my headache, was making me drowsy.
