Chapter 266

โ€œYou just told the driver to go to the airportโ€ฆโ€ Reynaldoโ€™s voice sounded even colder in the biting wind. โ€œWhat do you want to do at the airport? Run away?โ€

My heart skipped a beat. This man was incredibly perceptive; he always seemed to know what I was thinking.

Keeping calm, I smiled and said, โ€œMr. Humphrey is guessing blindly again, isnโ€™t he? Youโ€™ve already offered me a monthly salary of 100,000; why would I run away?โ€

โ€œThen you went to the airportโ€ฆโ€

โ€œWell, you left me alone, and I didnโ€™t know which hotel to return to, so I thought Iโ€™d go back to Freybourne and wait for you.โ€

โ€œIs it?โ€ Reynaldo chuckled.

I nodded hastily. โ€œOf course, otherwise, why would I go to the airport?โ€

โ€œHeh!โ€ He laughed again. In the cold wind, this light laughter was genuinely frightening.

After a while, he softly said, โ€œLook up at me.โ€

I pursed my lips, slowly lifted my head, and instantly met his dark, deep eyes. My heart skipped a beat unconsciously.

I tightened my bag strap, trying to maintain my composure. I deliberately said to him in a tone of grievance, โ€œYou insisted I come, but every time I follow you, you leave me alone in a strange place.โ€

Of course, as the CEO, and I, merely his secretary, I should return to the hotel alone. I can't blame him. But I didn't know the hotel's name, so I didn't know how to get back.

โ€œI thought, since you were so casually abandoning me, you must not need me anymore, so I decided to go back to Freybourne by myself.โ€

Reynaldo sneered. โ€œDon't know the hotel address? You could have called and asked. Is your phone just for show?โ€

When discussing phone calls, my tone became even more aggrieved: โ€œI called you twice this morning at the airport, and you deliberately hung up on me.โ€

Reynaldo frowned. โ€œDid I hang up on purpose?โ€

I pursed my lips. โ€œI thought you were a busy CEO, so I didnโ€™t dare to call you.โ€ You said to ask others, but I only have your number, Mr. Humphrey.

โ€œI really had no choice but to go back to Freybourne alone.โ€

Reynaldo stared at me quietly, the coldness in his eyes melting away. He asked, โ€œDo you only have my number?โ€

I handed him my phone. โ€œLook, there are three contacts: Quentin, Vonnie, and you.โ€

Reynaldo looked on, his brow slightly furrowed. โ€œIโ€™m just a string of numbers to you. You donโ€™t even give me a note?โ€

โ€œI donโ€™t need a reminder; I remember your number,โ€ I said instinctively.

Reynaldo pursed his lips, his eyebrows relaxing momentarily. โ€œDo you remember my number?โ€

โ€œUm,โ€ I put away my phone and casually said, โ€œ139*313.โ€

Reynaldo suddenly laughed. He turned his face away and blew out a smoke ring. When he looked back at me, his face seemed slightly improved.

He suddenly asked, โ€œIs Jonathanโ€™s clothing warm?โ€

I nodded unconsciously. Compared to when I first put on a sweater, it was much warmer.

โ€œHe took it off,โ€ the man suddenly said.

I furrowed my brows and tightened my leather jacket. โ€œWhy did he take it off? Canโ€™t you see itโ€™s snowing?โ€
