I furrowed my brow, made an effort to open my eyes, and saw Reynaldo. “You were going to catch a flight, right? Have a safe journey,” I mumbled, my eyes already drooping closed.

He shook me. “Wake up, Esmeralda.”

I impatiently waved him away. “The alarm clock hasn’t even gone off yet, don’t disturb me.”

“Get up!” His domineering command echoed.

Irritably, I pulled the blanket higher, covering myself completely.

Soon, he pulled me from under the covers. On a chilly autumn morning, even the room felt cold. I shivered, instantly more awake. Frowning, I asked, “What are you doing?”

“I am going on a business trip,” he said softly, his gaze falling to my chest. I secretly pulled the blanket tighter, nodding. “Well, have a safe journey.”

The thought of him leaving Freybourne slightly dispelled my drowsiness; my heart fluttered.

The excitement in my heart shattered at his commanding words. Anxiously, I rushed to him. “Why?”

“Huh!” He stared coldly at my resistance. “I am the boss, you are the secretary. Do you need a reason to go on a business trip with me?”

“No, you didn’t initially plan on this, did you? Why the sudden change…?”

“No, I planned from the beginning to have you come. I already booked your tickets.”

“But you didn’t inform me in advance?” I was about to cry. My beautiful plan lay in ruins.

Reynaldo leaned close, staring into my eyes, and chuckled coldly. “I only decided yesterday afternoon, booked the ticket last night, and now I’m letting you know. Is it too late for you? Or were you planning something big while I was away? So, this plan is disrupted by me now, are you feeling unwilling?”

I stared at his cold smile, so angry I almost tore the bedding.

“Since Mr. Humphrey wanted me to go on a business trip with you, I will obediently follow.”

Reynaldo squinted, checked his watch, and said, “Well, let’s get up then. Braylon will pick us up later.”

I silently got up, but my legs weakened, and I fell clumsily. Reynaldo, hearing the noise, turned back, glancing at me and chuckling lightly. “You really need to take care of your physique.”

I gritted my teeth and glared at him. The problem clearly lay with his lack of self-control. A woman, no matter how strong, cannot withstand the torment of someone so obsessed with lust.

He carried me to the wardrobe and set me down. He looked at me for a few seconds, then walked toward the living room, making a phone call. “Bring up a few breakfast items.”

I opened the wardrobe, chose a solid-colored sweater and jeans. After getting dressed, I neatly folded two semi-formal outfits. Coming out of the bedroom, I saw him on the sofa, looking at his phone. Silently, I found my suitcase.

Just as I was about to put the folded clothes inside, a large hand snatched them away. I looked up, surprised, to see him walking toward a dark-colored box, the clothes in his hand. I furrowed my brows, realizing he’d brought his suitcase last night.

“Why bother doing that? Just put it in a box.”

He said it and opened his suitcase.
