Chapter 321: Unexpected Suspicions
The elevator chimed softly as the doors glided open, prompting nearly twenty assistants and secretaries to promptly stand and bow respectfully. Fraser, accompanied by Summer, strode directly into his presidential office. The office was as luxuriously understated as ever. Massive floor-to-ceiling windows offered a sprawling view of Havenbrookโs mirage-like skyline, with the cityโs iconic buildings nearby. A whole row of luxury car models still claimed prominence on the wall, and a new addition was a golf practice area in one corner of the office.
โWhy did you bring me to your office?โ Summer asked.
Fraser wrapped his arms around her petite frame from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder. His voice, deep and seductive, purred, โFrom now on, you can come in whenever you like.โ
โIโm not bored enough to check up on you,โ Summer retorted haughtily.
โOh, you,โ Fraser chuckled, pinching her cheek. โOthers canโt just come here as they please.โ
โThen go find someone else?โ
Fraserโs voice was magnetic and tender. He said casually, โCanโt help it; my heartโs already full, no room for anyone else.โ
Summer couldnโt help but curl her lips slightly. A bright smile spread across her face like a summer breeze. She leaned back against his broad chest, glancing up at him sideways. Fraserโs profile was chiseled and noble, from the high bridge of his nose to his perfect jawlineโhis face was irresistibly handsome.
She suddenly remembered the last time she was here to transfer the remaining 500 million dollars to the Stewart Group, and then Fraser had proposed she become his girlfriend. That was the beginning of their story, she thought, smiling even wider, her fingers lazily tapping on his arm. Fraser felt the light, ticklish touch on his arm and hugged her even tighter, nearly melding her against him.
A smile formed on Summerโs lips. โYou said you wanted me as your girlfriend; was that premeditated?โ
Fraser glanced at her, nibbling gently on her delicate earlobe. His voice, low and enticing, murmured, โLooks like it.โ
Summer blinked slowly, and after a moment, her voice soft, โFraser, do you really like me?โ Or did he just think I was conveniently there and good-looking enough? And she was carrying his child. Was it all just a misunderstandingโฆ
โDonโt you believe it?โ
Summer did believeโbelieved in Fraserโs kindness and everything he did for her. But she was more afraid. Afraid that one day heโd wake up and realize he just liked her, that it wasnโt true love. If that happened, she wouldnโt have the strength to get back up.
Fraser watched as Summerโs long, lush lashes fluttered, her eyes twinkling. He lifted her up and sat her on the wide office desk, standing right in front of her, face to face. He lifted her chin, his gaze deep and serious. โListen carefully, Summer, I fell for you a long time ago.โ
And so, she looked into his deep, mysterious eyes, so profound and gentle, captivating her heart. Summer leaned back slightly. Accidentally, she knocked over a photo on the desk. She glanced at it briefly. It was the โlittle girl and dogโ picture she hadnโt seen clearly last time. Remembering this, Summer knew it was about Fraserโs first love. But right now, she didnโt want to hear him speak fondly of another woman.
Reflexively, Summer jumped off the desk. โIโฆ need to go back.โ
โGo where?โ
โHome.โ
โArenโt you going to look at the photo?โ
Closing her eyes, she said defiantly, โI donโt want to! Everyone has a past, and I respect yours.โ
Fraser's chest spread warmth. โSummer, what are you overthinking, hmm?โ
โIโm not overthinking anything.โ
โIf youโre not overthinking, why are you afraid to look?โ Fraser teased her, his voice low and playful. โAfraid of seeing another woman?โ
Caught by his accurate guess, Summerโs face flushed with a mix of annoyance and embarrassment. She turned to leave, but Fraser caught her hand from behind.
