Chapter 303: Hidden Wounds

Someone knocked on the bedroom door. Summer hung up the phone and opened it. She saw two uniformed servants pushing a cart inside, laden with a nutritious meal.

โ€œMs. Stewart, Mr. Graham sent up dinner. Weโ€™ll set it on the table,โ€ one of the servants said. Methodically, the servants arranged the dishes exquisitely on the table and then prepared to leave.

โ€œWhereโ€™s Fraser?โ€ Summer asked. Having just witnessed a major confrontation at the Graham Mansion, the servants naturally recognized her as Fraserโ€™s girlfriend. They already treated Summer as the second lady of the Graham family. They didnโ€™t hide anything, replying, โ€œHeโ€™s in a room on the second floor.โ€

In another room, Fraser was half-reclining on the bed, his brow furrowed, breathing rapidly and heavily as if suppressing something. Beside him, Peter was disinfecting a wound with saline, carefully removing clotted blood with a scalpel. The Graham Mansion had established a comprehensive medical system since Maximus had been ill, complete with advanced medical equipment that allowed for simple surgeries on-site.

After cleaning the wound, Peter applied medicine. He then took bandages from the medical kit and wrapped them around Fraserโ€™s shoulder, re-dressing the wound. Having finished, Peter prepared to administer an IV.

Fraser suddenly opened his eyes. โ€œJust bandage it; thatโ€™s enough.โ€

Peter frowned. โ€œMr. Graham, your wound is inflamed and festering. You need an IV to reduce the inflammation; simple bandaging wonโ€™t suffice.โ€

Fraserโ€™s voice was emotionless. โ€œNo need, do as I say.โ€

Resigned, Peter set the IV back on the medical cart as Fraser started to put on a black shirt he had picked up.

Meanwhile, Summer walked up to the room and was about to knock when she heard voices inside. She paused, then pushed the door open and entered. The smell of blood hit her immediately.

She saw Fraserโ€™s black windbreaker on the floor. Fraser was shirtless, his entire right shoulder wrapped in thick gauze.

Fraser hadnโ€™t expected Summer to appear suddenly. A flicker of surprise crossed his eyes as he quickly tried to put on his shirt. Seeing this, tears instantly welled up in Summerโ€™s eyes, surprising even her.

โ€œWhat exactly happened to your shoulder?โ€

Fraser pulled his shirt on, a forced smile on his lips. โ€œYou caught me. Itโ€™s just a minor injury I got by accident. This doctor is making a big deal out of it.โ€

Summerโ€™s clear eyes, filled with disbelief, turned to the doctor. โ€œWhat happened to his wound?โ€

Peter cautiously looked to Fraser, unsure whether to speak. Summerโ€™s voice was firm. โ€œSpeak.โ€

Almost reflexively, the doctor blurted out, โ€œMr. Graham has a knife wound.โ€ As the words fell, tears streamed down Summerโ€™s cheeks.

Fraser shot a cold look in Peterโ€™s direction. Peter immediately lowered his head, feeling as if a chill had passed through him.

Summerโ€™s eyes, red and swollen, fixed desperately on Fraser. โ€œWhy didnโ€™t you tell me? This is from Oblistan, isnโ€™t it?โ€

Fraser sighed. He hadnโ€™t wanted her to know; seeing her tears, though, hurt him more than his own wound. He looked at her intently, his voice soft and coaxing. โ€œI told you, itโ€™s a small injury. Itโ€™ll heal in a few days.โ€

Summer felt a painful swelling in her heart, the tears continued to fall. โ€œI even hit you in the chest recently. Why didnโ€™t you say anything?โ€

Fraser regarded the tear-blurred woman before him. โ€œStep outside,โ€ he directed Peter, who quickly left the room and shut the door.

Fraser reached out to wipe her tears. โ€œItโ€™s already bandaged and itโ€™s nothing serious. Stop crying. You cried earlier, youโ€™re crying now; be careful, or youโ€™ll cry your eyes out, and then I wonโ€™t marry you.โ€

โ€œFraser!โ€ Summer snapped at him through her tears.

Fraser, seeing her deep concern, smiled softly, his eyes softening as he looked at Summer. โ€œThe Graham mansion has plenty ofโ€ฆโ€
