Chapter 295: A Bitter Confession
Hearing his voice, Summer quickly forced her emotions down, though her voice was still a little hoarse.
โMr. Lucas, Iโm in the middle of something right now. As for what you did for me at the conferenceโฆ Iโll thank you properly another day.โ
โYou donโt have to thank me. I wanted to do it.โ
Lucas walked straight up to her, his eyes fixed on her face. With just one look, he could see the redness around her eyes. His hands clenched into fists without even realizing it.
โSummer, he doesnโt deserve your love.โ
He took a deep breath, as if making a firm decision.
โI know I said this before, but I have to say it again. I want to take care of you and the baby. Please give me a chance.โ
โAnytime you need me, Iโll be there. If youโre willing, we can get married today.โ
Summer was caught off guard by another confession from Lucas. She stood there, at a loss for words. Suddenly, Lucas reached out, wanting to pull her into his arms.
โIโm sorry.โ
Just before he could touch her, Summer stepped back. Lucas stared at his empty hand in midair and couldnโt hold back any longer.
โWhen you needed him most, he still didnโt show up. Why canโt you let him go?โ
Summer looked up at him.
โMr. Lucas, even if Iโm not with Fraser, that doesnโt mean Iโll just pick any man to be with. That wouldnโt be fair to you.โ
โI donโt care.โ
Lucasโs gaze locked on her. He could see right through herโhow fragile she really was, even though she kept up a strong front around him.
