Chapter 266: Lucasโ€™s Confession

Summer asked, โ€œWhy did you pick this place?โ€

Lucas thought, Is she still uncomfortable because of the memory of booking this restaurant for her ex-boyfriend?

โ€œMy apologies. I just thought this was where we first met. If it makes you uncomfortable, we can change the place.โ€

Summer waved her hand. โ€œItโ€™s okay, itโ€™s all in the past.โ€ She had completely moved on from Trevor.

Soon, the waiter brought out plate after plate of exquisitely prepared food. The smell of fish made Summer nauseous, and she instinctively gagged. Now, my sensitivity to smells had improved, but seafood, especially fish, was still unbearable.

Lucas looked concerned. โ€œIs there something you donโ€™t like?โ€

Summer swallowed hard. โ€œI need to use the bathroom first.โ€

After composing herself in the bathroom, Summer slowly walked out to find Lucas waiting at the door, holding out a warm, damp towel. She took it and wiped her hands before smiling faintly.

โ€œMr. Lucas, has anyone ever told you how thoughtful you are?โ€

Lucas looked at her with soft eyes, his tone playful. โ€œI rarely dine with women, and men certainly donโ€™t compliment me on my thoughtfulness. Youโ€™re the first.โ€

When Summer returned to the table, she noticed that all the seafood and fish dishes had been cleared away. This manโ€™s powers of observation are unnervingly keen.

โ€œBoth times weโ€™ve eaten together, youโ€™ve had this reaction. Is it stomach trouble? I know an excellent traditional doctor who can help.โ€

โ€œNo need. I just have an aversion to the smell of fish.โ€ I couldnโ€™t say it was because of the pregnancy.

The meal was pleasant enough. Lucas recommended three potential candidates to the Stewart group. As they neared the end, Lucas poured Summer a glass of warm water and casually asked, โ€œSummer, why leave Havenbrook? If somethingโ€™s bothering you, maybe I can help.โ€

โ€œMr. Lucas, you have helped me many times,โ€

Lucasโ€™ deep, gentle eyes held hers, his lips curving into a tender smile. โ€œYouโ€™re being too formal. Iโ€™ve asked you before not to call me โ€˜Mr. Lucas.โ€™ If you donโ€™t mind, you can call me Lucas.โ€

Summer hesitated. Iโ€™d rarely met men like him: cultured, refined, distinguished in manner. Since Iโ€™d met Lucas, heโ€™d treated everyone with the same courtesy and humility, never looking down on others despite his status. I hadnโ€™t thought much of it before. But a womanโ€™s intuition pricked me.

Chapter 266: Lucasโ€™s Confession

Lucas studied her intently. โ€œSummer, I like you a lot. Would you give me a chance?โ€

Summerโ€™s grip on her glass tightened. She bit her lip. โ€œIโ€™m sorry.โ€

Lucas nodded and smiled gracefully. โ€œDonโ€™t worry. I didnโ€™t mean to pressure you. When I heard you were leaving, I couldnโ€™t hold back. If it makes things uncomfortable, just pretend I never said it.โ€

When dinner ended, Summer stood awkwardly. โ€œI should get back.โ€

Lucas chuckled warmly. โ€œYouโ€™re not going to avoid me after this confession, are you? That would be unwise; especially since she still needed his help. Summer relented. Not wanting to create tension: โ€œAlright.โ€

Hidden in a shady corner, Sienna watched the couple with venomous eyes. How impressive, Summer is already luring another man. Letโ€™s see how popular you remain after I deliver you to Philipโ€™s bed. For days, Sienna had schemed ways to lure Summer out, but with her number blocked, no amount of feigned goodwill worked. Stalking her was the only option left.

The Dynamo pulled up to the gates just as Julia returned home. Lucas got out with Summer and greeted her politely. โ€œGood evening, Madam Julia.โ€

Julia studied the man in the gray suit, his upright posture, his handsome yet gentle features, and his refined demeanor. โ€œAnd you are?โ€

Summer introduced, โ€œThis is Mr. Lucas. I asked for his help in recommending a professional manager for this evening.โ€

Lucas retrieved a box of premium supplements from the car. โ€œMadam Julia, I wasnโ€™t expecting to see you today, so I only brought a small gift.โ€
