Chapter 251: Xavierโs Hospital
Julia looked at Summer and said seriously, โAnd Summer, since youโve decided to cut ties with the Graham family, you should stay away from Fraser from now on.โ
Summerโs eyes flickered slightly. After a moment, she slowly nodded.
After dinner, Summer washed up and lay in bed, planning to read a little before sleeping. A book on pregnancy guidelines sat on her bedside table. Suddenly, her phone chimed. โGoodnight.โ
Ever since finding out she was pregnant, Fraser had been sending her goodnight messages every day. Summer had never responded. Tonight, as she stared at the message, she felt a little dazed. Juliaโs words from earlier echoed in her mind.
Summer tapped into WhatsApp and opened the manโs profile. Her finger hovered over the โBlock Contactโ button. She stared at it for a long time. Taking a deep breath, she was just about to confirm when her phone suddenly rang. Without thinking, she answered.
Yvetteโs voice came through the line. โSummer, I know someone whose hometown has really fresh, organic produce. I bought a bunch of organic vegetables and free-range chicken from her and sent them to you.โ
Summer said, โHow much weight are you planning to make me gain?โ
โThe more, the better. You canโt starve my godbaby. Summer suddenly remembered something. Your birthday is in two days. Why didnโt you mention it?โ
In the past, Yvette always threw grand birthday parties, and Summer never missed them. They always celebrated each otherโs important milestones. But this year was different. These parties were always loud and lively, and now that Summer was pregnant, it didnโt seem like the right environment for her.
Yvette had thought about that too. โThis year, I plan to sneak back at midnight to blow out the candles with you.โ
Summer didnโt want to dampen Yvetteโs excitement. It would be rude for the birthday girl to leave halfway through. She smiled and said, โIโm pregnant, not crippled. Iโm not that fragile. Iโll come celebrate with you for a bit, but I wonโt be able to stay until dawn this year.โ
Yvette was thrilled. โSummer, thatโs great! You just need to be there when I cut the cake. I wouldnโt want my godbaby staying up late anyway.โ
After chatting for a little while, they hung up. Summer looked at Fraserโs WhatsApp again. She didnโt block him. She simply exited the app.
Two nights later, Summer arrived at Yvetteโs party. The club was a blur of neon lights, dizzying colors, and deafening music. People danced wildly to the pulsing beats. Feeling uncomfortable, Summer quickly made her way toward private room 505.
Just then, she bumped shoulders with a man in a floral shirt. Xavier looked up and immediately recognized her. โSummer, what are you doing here?โ
Seeing it was him, Summer answered simply, โMy friendโs birthday.โ
Hearing that, Xavier raised an eyebrow slightly. โThat pretty actress? What room is she in?โ
These rich playboys always had a habit of hitting on any beautiful woman they found intriguing. Summer didnโt want to entertain him. Then, a thought struck her. โWaitโฆ how did you know I was pregnant?โ
โThe hospital where you scheduled your abortion belongs to me.โ
Summer pieced everything together instantly. It was Xavier who had tipped Fraser off. Her expression darkened.
Xavier said, โI just thought the father had a right to know.โ
Summerโs tone was indifferent. โYouโre his friend; of course, youโd take his side.โ
โIโm not taking sides. But maybe you should stop and think how Fraser has really treated you.โ Seeing her lost in thought, Xavier casually added, โOh, by the way, you asked me before about the girl in Fraserโs office photo. Did you ever go check for yourself?โ
Summer remembered. Back when she was in the hospital, she had asked Xavier, โWhoโs the girl in the photo in Fraserโs office?โ
That memory resurfaced, and she lowered her eyes, speaking slowly. โFraserโs pastโฆ has nothing to do with me anymore.โ
With that, she turned and walked away. Xavier watched her slender figure disappear around the corner, lost in thought. Just then, a waiter carrying a fruit platter passed by. Xavier stopped him and asked, โThereโs a celebrity birthday party tonight, right? Which room is it in?โ
The waiter assumed he was just another crazy fan and kept his mouth shut. โSorry, we canโt disclose guest information.โ
Then, he quickly walked away. Ha. First Summer, now even the staff are guarding against me? Did they really think that just because they wouldnโt tell me, I wouldnโt be able to find out? Xavier remembered that Fraser had invested in this club.
