Chapter 212: She Doesnโt Love You
But at this point, she had no choice but to speak.
โFraser, the doctors say your grandfather canโt handle any more stress. His condition could worsen at any time. His final wish is for you to marry into the Lastesh family and protect the Graham Group. Only then can he rest in peace. I know this engagement means nothing to you, but only through a powerful alliance can our Graham family maintain its place among the elite.โ
โIs that so?โ Fraser let out a sneer.
Helen fixed her gaze on him and spoke with heavy meaning. โYou are the sole heir of the Graham family. You canโt be reckless anymore.โ
A moment later, his cold echo reverberated through the hall. โAnd what if I say no?โ
Fraser lifted his head, his dark eyes glancing over with indifference. That one look made Helen feel overwhelming pressure. At this moment, she slowly began to realize that her grandson was no longer within her control. Maximus had already stepped back from running things years ago due to his health. But she had to uphold the order, discipline, and traditions of the Graham family. She couldnโt allow any unexpected factors to jeopardize the foundation that had lasted for a hundred years.
Just as Helen was about to speak, her gaze inadvertently landed on the marks on Fraserโs neck. Her face instantly darkened. โIs it because of that woman?โ
The moment she said this, Fraserโs eyes snapped up, locking onto Helen with an intense stare. โYouโve met her?โ
Fraser knew Helenโs nature all too well. If she could name Summer, it meant she had already taken action behind his back. Helen was a woman deeply rooted in tradition; conservative, proud, and rigid. She upheld the Graham familyโs rules to the highest standard. A woman without the right family background would never be allowed past the Graham familyโs doorstep under her watch. That was exactly why Fraser had never intended to let Summer get close to the Graham family in the first place. He had his own plans.
Seeing Fraserโs expression grow darker, Helen felt a coldness settle deep in her heart. She had only mentioned that woman once, and yet he had already become so uncontrollable. How could she possibly tolerate that woman now?
Helen furrowed her brows and spoke sternly. โFraser, I donโt care how you play around outside, but taking her seriously is out of the question. Her background and upbringing donโt even compare to Miaโs. At least Mia was raised under my guidance since childhood.โ
Fraserโs eyes narrowed slightly. โHah, so you went behind my back and bullied her, didnโt you?โ
The more Fraser defended Summer, the colder Helenโs expression became. Without a word, she looked toward the butler. Understanding her signal, the butler stepped forward, presenting a phone with a recording and a stack of documents.
โYou think sheโs just some innocent woman? Sheโs quite clever, using you to negotiate with me for money and the Stewart family. This 30 percent of Stewart Groupโs shares? I gave them to her.โ
Fraser took the documents from the butler, flipping through a few pages absentmindedly. So thatโs why she went back to work at Stewart Group. Without hesitation, Fraser tossed the documents onto the table, unconcerned. โSo what? If she had asked me, I wouldโve given her the entire Stewart family. Whatever she wants. Iโll give it to her.โ
Helenโs face turned pale, then even paler. โYou would go this far for a woman like her?โ
12:17 PM
The butler stepped forward to support her, gently massaging her temples. As she recovered, she waved him off. Luckily, she had prepared a backup plan. Otherwise, Fraser would have driven her to her grave.
โThen letโs see if sheโs truly worth your devotion. Listen to this recording.โ
Fraser frowned and pressed play. It was a recording of Helen and Summerโs transaction. A womanโs voice came through clearly. โI donโt love him.โ
The voice was emotionless, utterly devoid of warmth. But Fraser knew that this was Summerโs voice. His face darkened slightly, but there was no extreme reaction. Still, Helen noticed the way his fingers tightened around the recording device, knuckles turning white. And then, slowly, the corners of her lips curled upward. Her grandson Fraser had been raised at the pinnacle of the elite world since birth.
