Chapter 210: Hickeys
As soon as he said that, hurried footsteps echoed through the bedroom. A moment later, Summer grabbed a band-aid from the living room, ran up to him, and without a word, stood on her tiptoes and stuck it onto his neck. Afterward, she kept a straight face and said seriously, โI think itโs better if youโฆโ
Fraser was at a loss for words.
The autumn sunlight wasnโt as scorching as in summer. It cast a soft glow on the ground as a sleek black Ferrari sped down the road. Summer sat in the passenger seat. When she noticed Fraser driving toward Aspira Design Institute, she spoke up. โIโm going back to work at Stewart Group.โ
Fraser glanced at her briefly before slowly changing direction. His long fingers tapped lightly on the steering wheel. โWhy so sudden?โ
Summer kept her eyes on the road ahead and explained simply, โI left Aspira Design Institute and returned to Stewart Group.โ
Fraser hummed with an unreadable expression. โWhen did that happen?โ
โWhile you were on your business trip.โ
โWhy didnโt you mention it last night?โ
โYou didnโt ask. Besides, he didnโt exactly give her the chance to talk.โ
โOh, so itโs my fault now.โ
A while later, the Ferrari came to a stop right in front of Stewart Groupโs entrance, drawing a few curious glances from passing employees. Summer quickly opened the door, trying to get out as fast as possible. But before she could leave, Fraser called out, โSummer.โ
โYeah?โ
Fraserโs dark eyes rested on her as he said casually, โCome home early tonight. We need to talk about what happened while I was away.โ
Summer lowered her gaze, her fingers tightening slightly. โIโm going to the Stewart Mansion to see my mom tonight, so I probably wonโt be back. Letโs talk another day.โ
Fraserโs lazy, indifferent gaze flickered across her face, but he didnโt say anything. As soon as Summer shut the door, the car sped off. With one hand on the wheel and the other resting against the window, Fraser glanced at the rearview mirror. She didnโt even look back after getting out, and just walked straight into Stewart Groupโs building.
Fraser let out a quiet scoff. Leaving Aspira Design Institute and returning to Stewart Group? There was no way it was as simple as she made it sound. It would be easy for him to find out what happenedโjust one word, and his people would dig up everything. But he didnโt want to do it that way. He wanted Summer to tell him herself.
Just then, his phone rang from the center console. Fraser glanced at the screen; it was Helen. He tapped his fingers on the wheel for a few seconds before connecting the call through the carโs display.
12:17 PM
Helen had already heard from his assistant. She knew that Summer had picked him up from the airport, which was why he didnโt come back. Her expression darkened slightly, but her voice remained warm and gentle. โYour grandfather woke up and found out what Brandon did at the Ohlistan factory. Heโs furious. Come back today.โ
The wind roared past as Fraser stepped on the gas. โGot it.โ
At the Graham Group, Fraser had been back from his trip for just one day, but back-to-back meetings had already filled his schedule. During one of them, he sat lazily in the main seat, his eyes shifting from the presenter to the phone on the table. Nothing. From morning until now, there were no messages or calls.
When the presentation ended, the meeting went into a break. Fraser picked up the latest investment report handed to him by an executive and flipped through it. A few senior managers sitting nearby accidentally caught sight of the small band-aid on his neck. They struggled to hold back their laughter, and they whispered among themselves.
โDid you see whatโs on Mr. Grahamโs neck?โ
โThatโs definitely a hickey! And he tried to cover it up!โ
โLooks like Mr. Graham had a steamy night.โ
โMr. Graham is always so cold and uninterested in women. I bet ten grand that was a manโs bite.โ
โIโm in! Iโll put down twenty grand!โ
Fraser lazily lifted his head from the report, his dark eyes sweeping across the room. โOh, Iโve barely been back, and you all have time to gossip about me?โ
The managers who got caught quickly forced out awkward smiles. Even though their big boss was powerful and influential, Graham Group had always followed a more open corporate culture.
