Chapter 175: Going Home
Margaret was unwilling to accept her fate, but there was nothing she could do. Then she remembered Yolanda. After inquiring, she learned Yolanda was about to be released from prison. A scheme formed in her mind; this was why she had agreed to the meeting.
Margaret said coldly, โThanks to your daughter, Summer, I was kicked out of the Stewart family.โ
Yolanda was in disbelief. โHow could that be? Didnโt the Stewart family love you? How could they bear to cast you out?โ
Margaretโs expression twisted with rage. โWhy donโt you tell me? Since you swapped me and Summer back then, why didnโt you just kill her? Or at least take her far away! Why did you have to bring her back? Everything I had is ruined! Hah!โ
When Summer was taken back to the Stewart family, Yolanda had never been afraid. She had seen with her own eyes that they still adored Margaret, proving that all her efforts twenty years ago had not been in vain. But she never imagined things would turn out like this.
Yolanda clenched her fists and slammed them on the table, her voice trembling with emotion. โMargaret, donโt worry. Mom is about to be released. I will help you reclaim your place. That wretched girl, Summerโฆ Iโll take care of her. She wonโt stand in your way.โ
Summer occasionally visited Julia whenever Jasper wasnโt home. When she arrived at the Stewart family villa today, Juliaโs health was no longer a major concern.
In the living room, several jewelry managers had brought in the seasonโs most precious pieces. Julia saw Summer and waved her over. โSummer, come take a look. See if thereโs anything you like.โ
She remembered how, every season, Julia would select a few sets of jewelry for upcoming banquets. The one always sitting beside her had been Margaret. Summer felt a bit dazed and wasnโt particularly interested.
One of the managers smiled. โMs. Stewart, the sapphire bracelet on your wrist alone is worth more than all of these combined.โ
Julia finally noticed the sapphire bracelet on Summerโs wrist. The color was vivid; each sapphire was pure and dazzling. It was clearly top-tier quality. Julia waved her hand. โYou can all leave now. Iโll pick another time.โ
The jewelry manager crouched down, carefully returning each piece to its box before exiting. Summer glanced at the display and casually picked up a pearl necklace.
The managerโs eyes lit up, thinking she was interested. โMs. Stewart, do you like this Armanee pearl necklace? Itโs a one-of-a-kind design.โ
Summer turned to Julia. โI remember Margaret wearing this necklace before.โ
Julia took the necklace and examined it carefully. โYour grandmother gave this to her for her sixteenth birthday.โ
The jewelry manager explained, โThis necklace was part of a collection we repurchased from a pawnshop.โ
Leona came down from Margaretโs room. โMadam, all of Margaretโs valuables and jewelry are gone.โ
Julia could hardly believe it. She had only intended to teach Margaret a lesson. If she had realized her mistakes and changed, there might have been a chance for her to return. But now, it was clear that her heart was truly cruel.
โLeave this necklace here and put it on my tab,โ Julia said, holding the pearls tightly. When she looked at Summer, her heart ached even more. โSummer, Iโve decided to make a public statement cutting all ties with Margaret. No matter what happensโฆโ
