Chapter 159: Game
Summer wanted to explain, but his mocking tone stopped her. Fraser felt his blood boil when he saw her like this. He knew it was her first day at her new job, so he had come specially to surprise her. Who knew heโd see something like thatโher ex-husband kneeling and begging for her forgiveness? What a surprise, indeed.
Summer thought she had completely cut things off with Trevor. He was the one who suddenly showed up today, spouting nonsense and asking for forgiveness. It wasnโt like she told him to kneel; Fraser just happened to see it. Thinking for a moment, she decided to ease the tension by starting with a lighter topic. โWhy did you suddenly come here?โ
Fraser lifted his gaze and gave her a glance. His voice was calm and cold. โHad a feeling early this morning that someone was sneaking around behind my back. Came over to check, and it turns out my girlfriend is really good at playing around.โ
Summer felt a headache coming on. She pressed her fingers against her temple. โFraser, can you talk properly?โ
Fraser smirked sarcastically. โWhat? I donโt sound as gentle as him?โ
Summer looked at Fraser and said steadily, โNo matter how much I try to deny it, Trevor was my boyfriend. If that bothers you, thereโs nothing I can do to change it.โ
โSummer, so thatโs your explanation?โ Fraserโs gaze dropped, and his eyes turned cold.
Summer turned her head away, looking out the car window. Her lips pressed together stubbornly. โIf you donโt trust me, then even if I explain, you wonโt listen.โ
Fraser suddenly reached out, pressing his palm against the back of her head, forcing her to face him. His cold gaze locked onto hers. โExplain properly and see if I wonโt listen. Or do you just not want to explain? Are you feeling soft toward him?โ
Summer struggled, but the space in the backseat was too small, and his presence completely surrounded her. โCan you stop being so childish?โ
โHah!โ Fraser let out a cold laugh. โIโm childish? You donโt like seeing me, so why did you get in the car?โ
Summer felt like they were both just arguing in circles. No matter what she said, it would be wrong. It was better to just let things cool down. She pushed him away, reached for the door handle, and was just about to get out when Fraserโs low and commanding voice rang from behind her. โSummer, I dare you to try stepping out of this car.โ
Could this man be any more controlling! He sat there mocking her the whole time, but when she wanted to leave, he wouldnโt let her! Summer let go of the handle and sat back down, lowering her head, staring at the sapphire bracelet on her wrist.
After a moment, she turned the sapphire between her fingers and spoke slowly. โFraser, remember when you were in Ameros? I called you and said that when you came back, we should have a proper talk.โ
Fraserโs brows knitted together. He had a bad feeling about this. Just as he was about to tell her to stop talking, the next second, her clear voice echoed through the car. โI wanted to say is, letโs break up.โ
The temperature in Fraserโs eyes dropped bit by bit. His gaze darkened, emotions surging and colliding within him like a raging storm. Suddenly, he reached out and gripped her jaw, his palm pressing against the side of her neck.
Summer was forced to meet his sharp gaze. For the first time, she saw such deep coldness in his stare, as if she were a complete stranger.
โThis game started when I said so. Ending it isnโt up to you.โ
Summer blinked, taking a while to find her voice. โMr. Graham already has a fiancรฉe and plenty of childhood sweethearts. Why waste your time on me?โ
โBecause I want to.โ Fraser smirked. His face looked even more striking, and he said, โIโm not done playing with you yet.โ
Hearing that, Summer laughed coldly inside. She thought that after all this time, Fraser had at least started seeing her differently. Even if he didnโt love her, maybe he liked her, even just a little. But in the end, everything he had doneโฆwas just because it made himself happy. So to him, she had always just been a game.
Thatโs right. Isnโt that how it all started for me too? Then why have I slowly fallen deeper and deeper into it?
