Chapter 124: The Unwanted Attention

Juliaโ€™s eyes turned red. โ€œSummer, this is all my fault!โ€

Summer ran to the underground parking lot, got into her car, and took a deep breath. After calming down for a moment, she stepped on the gas and drove off.

Due to the delay, by the time Summer arrived at the venue, the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Marloux had already ended. Summer was escorted by the staff to the next part of the event, the cocktail party.

The Marloux, as a top Belvare luxury brand, attracted elite guests from Havenbrookโ€™s high society, celebrities from the entertainment industry, and top journalists and photographers. The cocktail party was grand and opulent, with an Oblistan-style ambiance. Servants moved about with trays of drinks.

Yvette, the brand spokesperson, mingled with the Marloux executives, holding a glass of wine. When she saw Summer enter, she quickly walked over and introduced her. Martin smiled at her, no longer with his previous arrogance, but greeted her in broken Mandarin.

โ€œHello, Ms. Stewart.โ€

Summer also smiled and nodded. โ€œHello.โ€

Martin said with an apology, โ€œIโ€™m sorry for rejecting you last time. I didnโ€™t know you knew Mr. Graham. I hope you donโ€™t mind.โ€

Upon hearing Fraserโ€™s name, Summer was momentarily stunned. โ€œHaving the Marloux in the Stewart Mall is our good fortune.โ€

โ€œTrevor.โ€ Martin noticed Trevor approaching from a distance. He stepped forward and patted Trevorโ€™s chest. โ€œLong time no see. Iโ€™ve been trying to invite you for a drink, but youโ€™ve been ignoring me.โ€

Martin and Trevor were old friends who had studied together in Belvare. Trevor patted him back. Martin hadnโ€™t been in Havenbrook long and didnโ€™t know the history between Summer and Trevor.

โ€œThis is Ms. Stewart. The Marloux will be in her familyโ€™s mall.โ€ Martinโ€™s gaze shifted between them as if he had discovered something interesting. โ€œWow, you two look like a couple today. Both in gray suits.โ€

Trevorโ€™s dark eyes were fixed intently on Summer. Yvette rolled her eyes and stepped forward, blocking Trevorโ€™s insolent gaze. Just then, one of Martinโ€™s executives raised his glass.

โ€œYou canโ€™t drink liquor. Have this instead.โ€ Yvette gritted his teeth. Summer didnโ€™t take the red wine from Trevor. Instead, she raised her glass and took a small, symbolic sip.

Summerโ€™s close friends knew that she couldnโ€™t handle liquor well; her body would turn red if she drank too much. But a small sip was fine.

Trevor frowned and lowered his voice so that only they could hear. โ€œSummer, you donโ€™t have to hurt yourself just to spite me.โ€

At that moment, a commotion broke out at the entrance. A famous guest had arrived, and the flashing cameras were clicking rapidly. Summer looked up, her gaze cutting through the crowd and the blinding camera lights.

The familiar, handsome man walked in with his usual casual stride, surrounded by a group of people. The Marloux executives and other prominent guests rushed to greet him.

โ€œMr. Graham, we heard from your assistant that you wouldnโ€™t have time to attend. Your presence today truly elevates this event!โ€

Fraserโ€™s handsome face carried an air of aloofness and nobility. Amidst the flattery, he didnโ€™t even bother to smile. His sharp, dark eyes glanced briefly at Summer, who was standing in the distance, then shifted coldly away when he noticed the man beside her.

Journalists and photographers from Havenbrookโ€™s top media outlets rushed to press their shutters, vying for exclusive shots. When Yvette saw the man surrounded by admirers, he wanted to say something to Summer, but Summer spoke first. โ€œYvette, Iโ€™m going to get something to eat.โ€

Summer walked over to the buffet area and picked up a plate to grab some cake to satisfy her hunger. Unawares, Trevor had appeared beside her like a shadow. He held a piece of blueberry cake and offered it to Summer. โ€œYour favorite blueberry cake.โ€

Summer glanced at it, but ignored him and picked up a cookie instead. I hadnโ€™t expected Trevor to be so persistent. Within these times, he had sent me more messages than in the entire five years we had been together. Each time, it was from a different number. I have to delete them one by one. But with his wealth, Trevor probably had an endless supply of numbersโ€ฆ At last. I want to bother him. 12:30 PM c Love Drug
