Chapter 121: The Price of Love

“This is the finest Dragon Well tea. Even the most powerful officials in Havenbrook rarely get to taste it. The annual yield is extremely scarce, only a few taels. This small sip is worth sixty thousand dollars.”

One sip! Sixty thousand dollars! Summer almost choked on the expensive tea under Madam Graham’s sharp gaze. She forced herself to calm down and took a deep breath. There was still a faint smile on Helen’s face.

“Fraser is the bloodline of the Graham family and the only heir. His parents passed away when he was six years old. It was his grandfather and I who poured everything into raising him,”

Summer listened with her head bowed, her fingers gripping the teacup. When Helen spoke of Fraser, a hint of warmth appeared in her face instead of a cold smile.

“His nature has always been carefree and unrestrained, and he does as he pleases. Spending a fortune to make a beauty smile is indeed something he would do. But money is the least of our worries in the Graham family.”

As she spoke, she picked up the blue and white porcelain teacup and took a small sip. “Just like this tea, it may seem rare and precious to you, but in reality, only tea of this superior quality is worthy of the Graham family.”

Summer’s eyes flickered slightly, and she slowly raised her head, her gaze meeting Helen’s directly across the table.

“Madam Graham.”

Helen raised her hand to stop Summer from speaking. “Ms. Stewart, since this is our first meeting, let’s start with a gift from me.”

With that, a servant stepped forward and handed a document to Summer. Summer was slightly stunned, her fingers stiff as she accepted the file. She held the document in her hands but didn’t open it right away.

Helen took a sip of tea and looked at her. “Open it.”

After a moment, Summer opened the file and pulled out a document and a recording. Helen’s voice sounded.

“This document is for thirty percent of the shares of Stewart Group. From now on, you are the largest shareholder of the Stewart Group.”

“This recording is a conversation between your best friend Yvette’s ex and someone else. Once this is revealed, she will be cleared of all accusations and can return to her original position.”

Summer’s hands holding the documents felt cold and stiff, but inside, she wanted to laugh.

Madam Graham was indeed not easy. She had investigated my background so thoroughly.

She looked at the still friendly and kind Helen, her voice clear but with a hint of coldness. “Madam Graham, are you giving me these things to make me leave Fraser?”

Summer felt a cold run through her entire body. I understood Helen’s meaning. If I was willing to be an unofficial lover, even a mistress, I could still stay by Fraser’s side.

After Summer left, the butler, Karena, helped Madam Graham massage her back.

“Why didn’t you just tell Summer to leave Mr. Graham? That would have settled everything,” Karena asked.

“What do you know? A subtle warning is always more effective than an outright banishment. Today’s conversation will make her think things through on her own,” Helen replied. “With Fraser’s rebellious nature, his relationship with his grandfather is already strained. If I’m too harsh, won’t it push him further away from us?”

Summer didn’t know how she got home. When she saw the document on the table, she wanted to throw it away. She grabbed a bottle of ice water from the fridge and drank it in one gulp. The icy water cooled her chest and helped her tense emotions to calm down a bit.

After a while, Summer took out her laptop and listened to the recording. Then she called Yvette. The voice on the other end sounded breathless.

“What’s up, babe? I just finished an event.”

“I have a recording of Quicksilver. It clearly shows that he was just playing with you. If you release this, you can prove your innocence.”

Yvette asked confusedly, “Where did you get this? Did you really go to Mr. Graham?”

“Don’t worry about it. As long as this recording can help you.”

After hanging up, Summer took the blue tie she had bought, along with its package, and stuffed it in the bottom of her closet. She went to take a bath and sank into the bathtub.
