Chapter 363

Joyce hadn't seen Josiah all day and became clingy. Sienna said, "Joyce, it's time for bed. Be a good girl, or Mommy will be upset and won't let Josiah visit again."

As soon as Joyce heard this, she quickly closed her eyes. "Time to sleep now?"

"You're such a good girl." Josiah chuckled softly as he tucked her in and gently helped her to sleep. An hour passed before he stood to leave.

Sienna waited at the door; she was sleeping with Joyce that night. When the door opened, she barely glanced at Josiah, passing him to enter the room.

"Sienna," Josiah grabbed her arm, wanting to explain. "Yvette's emotional state is very unstable, and after a few daysโ€ฆ"

"Shh!" Sienna peeked inside, worried about waking Joyce, and quietly shut the door. Even then, she whispered, "I don't care about your issues with Yvette. I only care about Joyce."

"Sienna?" Josiah frowned, confused. "I know you don't like Yvette, butโ€ฆ considering her situation, can't you feel a little sympathy for her?"

Without hesitation, Sienna said, a faint smile appearing on her face. "If you ask me, she did this to herself."

Josiah's face tightened. "Why do you think that?"

"Are you feeling sorry for her?" A bigger smile spread across her lips. "What she's going through now is just justice!"

With a flick of her wrist, she pulled away and opened the door. Josiah was momentarily stunned, unable to stop her. He wondered, Why did Sienna talk like that? Why did she hate Yvette so much?

The tense history between Yvette and Sienna was well-known in Jelacrity's elite circles. Yvette had every right to harbor a grudge against Sienna; after all, Sienna had caused Yvette to lose her child that year.

Josiah closed his eyes, thoughts swirling just beneath the surface.

In the following days, Sienna had no performances scheduled, her role in the play being small. She enjoyed a longer rest the next day. Waking up, she found Joyce snuggled beside her.

Sienna gently stroked Joyce's rosy, sleeping face. "Joyce, it's time toโ€ฆ" She wanted to wake Joyce but hesitated. Joyce's face was warm.

"Joyce?" Panic gripped Sienna, but she hesitated to raise her voice. "Joyce, wake up."

Joyce slowly blinked open her sparkling eyes. In a soft, sleepy tone, she murmured, "Good morning, Mommy."

"Good morning, Joyce." Sienna quickly grabbed a thermometer.

Joyce suddenly cried, "I don't feel well."

Her heart raced: Joyce had a fever.

"I know, sweetheart," Sienna's heart tightened as she picked Joyce up. "Let's get you dressed; we're going to the hospital. You'll feel better after seeing the doctor."

"What's wrong?" Hearing the noise, Tara entered.

"Tara," Sienna hurriedly instructed, "Joyce is sick, and we need to leave for the hospital immediately!"

Tara exclaimed, quickly getting ready. After putting on her coat, Sienna carried Joyce out of the apartment, with Tara following closely behind.

Joyce leaned against Sienna, her tiny voice breaking, "Mommy, where's Josiah? Is he coming today?"

"Don't cry, Joyce. Be a good girl." Sienna's eyes filled with unshed tears, her lip trembling.

Josiah hadn't shown up that morning. The man who kept intruding into their lives when she didn't want him was gone when they needed him most.

Sienna rushed Joyce to the hospital, Joyce's cries echoing, "Mommy, Josiahโ€ฆ"

Once at the hospital, Sienna handed Joyce to Tara. "Stay with Joyce while she gets her blood drawn. I need to make a call."

"Okay." Tara understood Sienna was going to call Josiah.

Indeed. Sienna quickly dialed Josiah's number. "Joyce has a fever. We're at the hospital, hurry over!"

"Joyce has a fever?" Hearing this, Josiah's voice tensed. "I'll be there right away!" Eager to act, he dashed out of the patient room. A few feet away, Yvette watched from her bed, her mind clear.

He left just like that! she thought. All because of a phone call! Who called him? It must have been Sienna. Are they still in contact? Was Sienna still holding onto him?

Yvette's gaze turned cold. No, they must not be together! Josiah is all that remains for me! Silently, she raised her hand and pulled out the needle just inserted by the nurse.

The nurse froze. "Ms. Young!"

Without looking at her, Yvette replied coldly, "Go fetch Josiah. If he doesn't come back, I won't receive treatment."

The nurse was taken aback. Nodding cautiously, she stammered, "Okayโ€ฆ I'll be right back."

Meanwhile, outside the surgical area, Josiah received a call from the ward nurse, who explained, "Mr. Flynn, you should return. Ms. Young's mental state seems quite unstable. We're worried she might act out."

Just then, his phone rang again; it was Sienna, anxiously urging him, "Are you on your way? Hurry! Joyce is crying!"

In the background, he could hear Joyce's distressed sobs. "I'm not feeling well, Mommy!"

Sienna's urgent voice followed. "Did you hear me?"

Josiah's heart sank. He glanced toward the surgical area and rushed toward the garage. I heard you! Sienna, I'm on my way! Tell Joyce I'll be there!

He reached the garage, got his car, and sped toward the hospital, flooring the accelerator, desperate to be by his daughter's side.

By the time he arrived, Joyce was struggling in Sienna's arms, crying, "Please don't, don't give me a shot!"

Josiah shouted, "Joyce!"

"Josiah!" Joyce lifted her tear-filled eyes to him, reaching her arms toward him.

"It's okay," Josiah rushed forward and held Joyce in his arms. "I'm here; no need to cry. Be good, Joyce; after the shot, you'll feel better."
