Chapter 342
It didn't take long for Josiah and his people to arrive. Someone awaited them at the entrance. Seeing Josiah, the person showed deference.
โMr. Evans, please come in,โ the person said.
Josiah paused, a disdainful snort escaping his lips. "Mr. Evans?" he thought, glancing at the person before striding inside.
In the spacious living room, Andy sat on a sofa, a kettle on the stove yet to boil. Hearing footsteps, he looked up and saw Josiah.
Josiah approached, stopped, and looked down with impatience. "I'm here. Where are my people?"
Andy looked up, seemingly unhearing, his gaze fixed on Josiah. "You look alike," he said, examining Josiah's face. "Truly alike."
Josiah wondered, Alike to what?
"I meanโฆ" Andy stood, his gaze unwavering, "You and Howard Flynn, you resemble each other."
"So what?" Josiah responded flatly, glancing sideways.
Undeterred by Josiah's rudeness, Andy smiled and changed the subject. "But you look even more like your mother. It's an exact match."
The casual remark struck Josiah like a bomb.
My mother?
Josiah stared at Andy, every cell seeming to scream. How dare he mentionโฆ He suppressed his fury, affecting nonchalance. "Oh, my mother passed away early. Did you meet her?"
Andy thought, This kid's pretending not to understand. He was taken aback.
"Your mother passed away early? You can say that out loud!" Andy exclaimed.
Andy had a purpose for summoning Josiah. He stared at Josiah's face. "You've been the Flynn family's Mr. Flynn for years, relying on this face that resembles Howard Flynn. But don't forget, this face was given to you by your mother. How can you curse her like that?"
Silence fell. Josiah stared at Andy, understanding that heโd been recognized as Edgar. The Evans family's recent activities suggested a thorough investigation. Despite his composure, a familiar childhood panic surged, a shadow deeply embedded within him.
Josiah clenched his jaw, his eyes bloodshot. "You shut up! Don't mentionโ"
The pretense was over.
"Myโmom! What kind of scum are you to evenโ"
"Edgar!" Andy's confidant, Ethan, interjected. "Speak politely! Is this how you address your own father?"
"Father?" Josiah laughed, filled with mockery. He glanced at Andy. "Ask him, would he dare to respond if I called him father? Huh?"
Andy raised his hand, silencing Ethan. "Ethan, what's the point of arguing with a child?"
Ethan nodded, frowning.
Andy looked at Josiah, his smile unchanged. "You asked if I'd respond to 'father.' I would."
Shocked, Josiah felt his breath catch. "What do you mean?"
Andy's smile softened, his voice low and deep. "I mean, I would respond to you calling me father, on the condition that you are my son."
He raised his arm. "Ethan!"
Ethan clapped his hands. Doctors in white lab coats emerged from a side hall. More bodyguards followed.
"What are you doing?" Josiah asked.
Andy continued calmly. "I advise you to behave. Don't forget, your two women are in my hands."
Josiah deflated, staring at Andy with helplessness and resentment. "What on earth do you want?"
"Sit," Andy said, pointing to the sofa and then the doctors. "They will draw your blood. It won't be too painful."
Josiah obeyed. As the doctors drew his blood, he understood. "Andy, you're planning a paternity test?"
"Not too slow," Andy smiled contentedly. "How else could you have stayed in the Flynn family for so many years, fooling everyone into believing you were Mr. Flynn?"
His smile deepened. "Even if you're not my son, your abilities are admirable."
The doctors finished. Josiah pressed a cotton ball to the puncture site. "Stop beating around the bush! I didn't come here for idle chatter. Where are my people!"
Andy's lips curled. "Those two of yours, one is prettier than the other. You have good taste."
Josiah's eyes darkened, his patience exhausted. "Where are they?"
Andy smiled faintly. "Which of these two women do you like more? Huh?"
"None of your business!" Josiah's patience snapped. He grabbed Andy's collar. "Where are they?!"
Ethan urged, "Edgar, let go!"
Andy laughed. "Ethan, this is between Edgar and me. Step back."
Josiah remained unrelenting. "Andy, I'm asking one more time. Where are they? You're old! I'm not the child who could be trampled on back then! You dare harm them, I swear, I will be your enemy, and I will bring your Evans family to ruin!"
