Chapter 329

Josiah stood like a chastised child, at a loss. "I'm sorry," he mumbled. "Don't be angry; it's my fault."

"You don't need to apologize to me!" Sienna's eyes were slightly wet. The past few days had been agonizing, and seeing him so unwell threatened to break her. Her sharp gaze swept over him with a touch of indifference. "The one you should apologize to is Joyce!" She poked his chest with a delicate finger. Her voice, full of questions, trembled. "You've owed her for so many years. If anything happens to you, how will you make it up to her?" Her lashes fluttered, her lips quivered, and tears welled in her eyes.

Josiah's heart ached at her tears. He lowered his head, resting it on her shoulder.

"Josiah," Sienna recoiled, feeling both angry and worried. Had everything she'd said been pointless?

"I know I messed up," he admitted, seizing the opportunity to embrace her. "I didn't think it through. I wasn't trying to hurt myself. I didn't want you to leave."

"Let go, stand up straight, and speak properly!" Sienna commanded.

"Sienna, it hurts," Josiah murmured, leaning close to her ear.

Sienna's nerves tightened. "Where does it hurt?"

He frowned and shook his head. "My head. It feels likeโ€ฆ everywhere hurts."

Sienna's eyes widened in panic. She grabbed his arm. "Who told you to run around recklessly? Hurry backโ€”"

Josiah's lips twitched. "Okay, I'll do as you say."

Sienna looked up at his frail figure, a mix of anger and frustration evident. "If you keep treating your life carelessly, I can't count on you. I'll take Joyce and return to Flirty!"

Josiah tightened his grip on her hand, his obsidian eyes clear and alert. "I won't dare. I promise you, for Joyce's sake, I'll take care of myself."

Sienna chuckled faintly. "Oh, I'm just worried that if something happens to Yvette, you'll still act recklessly." Josiah was taken aback. Does Sienna think I got hurt saving Yvette? he thought. No wonder she's so upset.

Sienna looked puzzled. "Why are you suddenly laughing?"

"Sienna, are you jealous?" Josiah whispered in her ear, trying to suppress his laughter. She was surprised. How does he reach that conclusion? she wondered.

"You thought I got hurt for Yvette and got mad, so you didn't visit me for three days, right?" he said, sounding slightly aggrieved. He pressed his lips together. "You misunderstood. I didn't get hurt because of her. She got caught up because of me. But if it made you jealous, the misunderstanding was worth it."

Sienna thought, Yvette got caught up because of him? What does that mean? Her eyes narrowed slightly. "Josiah, did you hit your head too hard? You need treatment!"

She couldn't help but laugh. "Am I jealous? Do I look like I have the time to be?"

"Don't say anything. Let me think this way. You can think my mind's a mess; actually, it's not just my mind. My heart's got problems," he said, placing her hand on his chest. "Feel itโ€”doesn't it beat fast!"

Sienna was startled, caught in his gaze. Beneath her palm, she felt his strong, steady heartbeat.

"Sienna, I'm lovesickโ€”the kind only you can cure!" he declared.

In the hospital room, Miranda was furious. She and Howard had arrived too late. Josiah had woken up and left before they could even celebrate.

"Josiah was in a coma for a week and just woke up! How could you let him pull out his IV and run off? What are you even doing here?" Miranda demanded.

Yvette quickly intervened, gently taking Miranda's arm. "Miranda, calm down. Josiah went after Sienna."

Miranda was perplexed. "Chase after Sienna? Didn't Sienna promise to take good care of Josiah? How could she leave just as he's waking up? Couldn't she just go along with him a bit?"

The nurse announced from outside, "They're back! Josiah and Ms. Shaw are back!"

"Josiah!" Miranda exclaimed joyfully.

At the door, Josiah held Sienna's hand, beaming, while Sienna looked down, avoiding eye contact. This made Miranda uneasy. Josiah seemed thrilled, while Sienna appeared disinterested.

Josiah smiled at Miranda. "Miranda, I'm sorry for worrying you."

"Oh, you just realized that now?" Miranda teased, giving him a playful glare. "Hurry up and lie down! You just woke up, and you're already running around!"

He patted his chest reassuringly. "Miranda, I'm fine. I'm all better now."

"Stop showing off and lie down!" Miranda turned to give instructions. "Quick, get the doctor over here; Josiah is back!"

"It's already taken care of, Miranda!" someone replied.

Josiah was made to lie down, and the doctor arrived shortly after.

"Josiah is mostly fine; everything's normal. But since he's just recovered, he's still a bit weak. Also, since the injury is on the head, it's best to recheck with a CT and MRI," the doctor explained.

"Please arrange that," Miranda said.

"Got it," the doctor replied.

Sienna stood at the edge of the room, listening, finally relaxing. If he's well, there's hope for Joyce, she thought. She then addressed Miranda carefully. "Miranda, I don't think I'm needed here anymore, so I'll leave in a bit."

Miranda, of course, didn't want her to leave; she could see Josiah's attachment to Sienna.

"Ouch," Josiah groaned from the bed, clutching his temples. "Ouch, I don't feel well. My head hurts, Sienna, I don't feel well."

Miranda, eager to keep Sienna, pleaded, "Sienna, for my sake, stay a few more days. Josiah just woke up, and his condition is still unclear. I'm worried."

Sienna glanced at Miranda, then at Josiah, and reluctantly nodded.

Miranda smiled, patting Sienna's temples. "Good girl. With me here, I won't let him bully you again."

"Miranda, I won'tโ€”" Josiah began.

"I think you don't dare to do that," Miranda interrupted.

Nearby, Yvette watched with a cold gaze, a chill spreading through her.

Josiah was undergoing treatment. Miranda and Yvette left, while Sienna video-called Joyce outside. Inside, Howard and Josiah were alone.

Over the past couple of days, Howard had received some news. "Lorenzo was thrown overseas."

Josiah's eyes widened. "Who did this?"

They exchanged a knowing look. Only one person could have done it.
