Chapter 323
Thinking back, that tortoiseshell hair clip wasn't from any known brand. Yvette had consulted an expert, who confirmed it appeared handmade, showcasing exceptional skill and detail. Now, Yvette understood. She thought, Who could have made it? It's Rosie. As a professional designer, she's certainly capable.
Yvette closed her eyes, recalling a photo she'd seen on Howard's phone. At the time, she'd been focused on Sienna, noticing her and her colleagues leaving the Lightning Dance. Yvette chuckled softly. She'd immediately spotted Sienna, overlooking the colleague beside her: Rosie, Sienna's colleague, whom Howard had been photographing.
Yvette couldn't precisely recall Rosie's position in the photo, but she was certainโit was Rosie. That professional designer's drawing pen proved it.
Yvette felt disoriented. She never imagined the person she sought had been so near. "Howard, you kept this a secret!"
At the hospital, the doctor examined Rosie and prescribed medication. "You came just in time; no major issues. Just be sure to rest." The doctor added jokingly, "With the recent holidays, have you been staying up late? Even if you can't see, proper eye rest is crucial."
Staying up late was the culprit. Rosie felt embarrassed. "Thank you. I'll remember that."
Sienna, feeling apologetic, held Rosie's arm as they left. "It's my fault. I didn't consider that. Let's hurry back andโ"
Rosie leaned in, whispering, "Yeah, sure. Howard seems in a bad mood today. Josiah hasn't woken up yet, right?"
Sienna paused. "Probably."
Rosie sighed softly. "Mr. Flynn is facing a difficult challenge. Let's see if he can overcome it."
Howard left later, likely discussing the surgery with the doctor. Afterward, he drove them back to Sunshine Neighborhood.
Yvette was preoccupied during the drive, but upon entering the house, she became alert. She raced upstairs to Howard's room.
She frantically searched, seeking the tortoiseshell hairpin, but found nothing. "Where did I leave it? Where is it hidden?" The more she searched, the more frustrated she became, creating chaos in the room.
"What are you doing?" Miranda entered, staring in shock.
Yvette's eyes darted nervously. "Miranda, IโI was looking for something."
"In Howard's room, looking for your stuff?" Miranda frowned, watching intently.
"Miranda," Yvette began, speechless.
"Why are you acting so strangely?" Miranda, already dissatisfied with Yvette's restlessness, continued, "And where's Josiah? He went to Lacustria to pack you up, so why did you return alone?"
"Miranda," Yvette muttered.
"Don't try to deflect with talk of a business trip!" Miranda stated directly. "Something's not right. You and Howard have been secretive lately; when one's around, the other isn't. What exactly are you two up to? Spill it!"
Miranda's parents had only one daughterโMiranda, the Flynn family heir and leader of her generation. Miranda's husband had married into the family.
After her son's death, Miranda single-handedly supported the Flynn family, leading it to its current state. Now older and less involved in affairs, she remained vigilant regarding her grandchildren.
Under Miranda's intense gaze, Yvette's eyes shifted nervously. "Miranda, Iโฆ"
"Tell me! Fine. Didn't you say Josiah was on a business trip? Call him!" Miranda's patience snapped. "Not going to tell me? If something happens to Josiah, will you take responsibility? Can you handle that?"
Yvette was stunned. What should I do?
"Call him! Why aren't you calling?" Miranda sneered, her voice sharp and demanding. "You're still not telling the truth? If something happens to Josiah, are you going to take responsibility for it? Can you handle that?"
Yvette had no choice. Looking down, she softly confessed, "Josiahโฆ he's injured and unconscious." She explained the entire situation.
A chill ran down Miranda's spine. She closed her eyes, clutching her head.
"Miranda!" Yvette cried, supporting her. "Howard and I feared your reaction; we didn't dare tell you! Miranda, where's your medicine!"
Finding her emergency medication, Yvette gave Miranda two pills. "Miranda, keep these in your mouth!"
"Miranda, how are you feeling?" Yvette anxiously thought, If anything else happens to Miranda, how will I explain it to Howard? Thankfully, Miranda recovered.
Yvette helped Miranda sit on the couch. After a moment, Miranda opened her eyes, her complexion improved. "Miranda?" Yvette called softly.
Miranda waved dismissively. "It's nothing. I'm not dying yet; I still have time!" She stood, leaning on Yvette. "Let's go." Yvette was puzzled. "Miranda, where are we going?"
Miranda glanced at Yvette. "Where do you think?"
At Sunshine Neighborhood, the Cayenne stopped. Sienna helped Rosie out. "Rosie, wait a bit. I need to talk to Howard."
Rosie nodded, expecting to inquire about Josiah. "Okay, go ahead."
Sienna returned to the car and knocked on the window. Howard looked at her quietly. "Howard, how about Josiah?"
"Sienna!" Yvette, holding Miranda's arm, stood before them.
"Miranda," Sienna asked, surprised.
"Miranda," Howard immediately exited the car, frowning at Yvette. Why is Miranda here? Does she know about Josiah's situation?
Miranda approached Sienna, tears streaming, gripping her hand. Her voice choked with emotion, "Sienna, please save Josiah!"
Sienna's breathing grew heavy. "I know you're worried, but if the doctors can't do anything, how can I? If even Yvette can't wake him, I definitely can't either."
"Please help me," Miranda pleaded, her eyes clouded, holding Sienna's hand tightly. "I know about everything between you and Josiah. He's at fault, and I've never sided with him or forced you to be with him."
Sienna was silent, nodding slightly.
"I'm begging you!" A hint of desperation laced Miranda's voice. "Go and see Josiah! I'm on my knees for you!"
