Chapter 213

Josiah could barely hold on. Fortunately, his subordinate arrived. The car slowed, not stopping completely. He flung open the door. "Mr. Flynn, get in, please."

Josiah, panting heavily, sprinted to the car, nearly colliding with his subordinate's arm upon entering. "Mr. Flynn, are you alright?" his subordinate asked.

"Cut the crap," Josiah snapped, having no time for pleasantries. Pointing at the unlicensed van ahead, he gasped, "Quick, catch up."

"Yes, Mr. Flynn," his subordinate replied.

After issuing the order, Josiah clutched his chest, the exertion causing a sharp pain in his lungs. He eventually retrieved his phone and called Zach. "It's meโ€ฆ"

Inside the van, the man panicked. "That man's catching up!"

"What are you afraid of?" the woman scoffed. "You call yourself a man? You can't even handle this as well as a woman!"

Though brave in her words, she was inwardly panicking. There was no turning back. She floored the gas pedal, the van accelerating to its top speed.

Sienna lurched forward, bumping her forehead. This jarring movement stirred a vague memory. The woman looked young and familiar.

I'm sure I don't know her, Sienna mused. Why then, this feeling of familiarity?

Who are these people? Why did they kidnap me? Ransom? But I'm not rich. Did I offend someone?

But I'm a nobody in Jelacrity. I barely know anyone here, let alone someone I could offendโ€ฆ

Sienna remained puzzled. The speeding van tossed her about, making her nauseous. The gag prevented her from vomiting.

Soon, they left the city, the landscape growing increasingly desolate. They were in the suburbs nowโ€”a place Sienna had never been.

Where are they taking me? Is Josiah still following? she wondered.

Sienna tried to look back, but the man grabbed her shoulder, snarling, "Behave yourself! What are you looking at?"

Sienna obeyed, the crushing pain in her shoulder blurring her vision and bringing cold sweat to her brow. Her gagged mouth prevented any scream. Finally, darkness enveloped her, and she lost consciousness.

She awoke to agonizing pain, gasping for breath. Sweat soaked her clothes. "Where am I?" she wondered.

A strong smell of dust and fish filled the air. It wasn't night; light filtered in. Though unfamiliar, the space vaguely resembled a cargo hold, like those seen in movies and TV shows.

"You're awake." A pair of women's leather shoes appeared before her eyes. It was the woman from the vanโ€”a girl, really, appearing to be in her early twenties.

The girl squatted, examining Sienna's face. Strange, Sienna thought. Kidnappers usually cover their faces. These two are brazen. Unprofessional? Or maybe they don't need to hide their identities.

"Who are you?" Sienna asked breathlessly.

"Oh," the girl chuckled, her smile revealing a youthful air. Sienna was even more surprised when she spoke.

"Sienna, you don't recognize me? We haven't seen each other for years, but I recognized you instantly," the girl said.

Someone she knew. Sienna frowned, pondering. So, that familiarity wasn't unfounded.

Her gaze swept over the girl's features. The familiarity intensified. Suddenly, a thought struck her. "Could you beโ€ฆ"

Noticing Sienna's gaze, the girl smiled, resting her chin on her hands. "You recognize me. Hello, Sienna."

It was Reyna Fischer. Sienna frowned. Why didn't I think of it sooner? Who else could I have offended in Jelacrity? It has to be Larry's familyโ€”the ones I offended yesterday.

Sienna had refused their request for a liver donation to save Conner. After Larry and Tania's failed attempts, their daughter, Reyna, took action.

Larry had tried bribery, Tania had pleaded, and Reyna had resorted to kidnapping.

Sienna chuckled, finding it absurd. "You kidnapped me for Conner, right?"

"Yes," Reyna raised an eyebrow. "You're quite smart."

However, Sienna didn't think Reyna was particularly clever. Does she really believe kidnapping me will make me donate a part of my liver to Conner? she thought.

"Reyna," Sienna's voice was strained, her shoulder throbbing. "Let me go. Hospital surgeries require consent. You can kidnap me, but you can't force me onto an operating table."

"Don't worry," Reyna smiled slyly, seemingly prepared. She produced her phone. "Did you think I was that stupid?"

She tapped her temple. "I'm not stupid. I know, the kind without any clothes on." She waved her phone. "I'm going to take some pictures of you later. Youโ€ฆ"

"What?" Sienna was stunned. Has Reyna lost her mind? Such a despicable planโ€ฆ she's still so youngโ€ฆ

Seeing Sienna's fear, Reyna laughed, standing and extending a hand. "It's good you're scared. You're a looker. You must be gorgeous without clothes on."

She began to unbutton Sienna's clothes.

"Reyna!" Sienna trembled. "Are you crazy! This is illegal!"

"Illegal?" Reyna didn't stop, her eyes fierce. "I can't worry about that. Conner's life is on the line. I only know you can save him."

Reyna was clearly unhinged. There wasn't a sane person in Larry's family. Sienna trembled violently, her teeth chattering.

"Can't you save him?" Sienna questioned Reyna's sibling bond. "Reyna, you're his biological sister. Are you unwilling to donate a part of your liver to your own brother?"

Reyna's pained expression answered. "It would hurt so much. Besides, what if something goes wrong with the surgery?"

So, that was Reyna's motivation. Sienna was speechless. Reyna was shameless, a true daughter of Larry and Tania.

Reyna grinned. "Sienna, I still consider you my sister. Look, I'm taking pictures myself. I didn't even let Jamie in, right?" Jamie Warner was the man with Reyna.
