Chapter 185
โWhat helicopter? What cross-city trip?โ Sienna asked.
Rosie was equally surprised. โDo you not know?โ
Sienna, struggling to make sense of it, asked, โAre you saying that the person who flew me to the hospital in Harbwood by helicopter was Josiah?โ
โYeah,โ Rosie replied, confused. โYou didnโt know? Didnโt you see him when you woke up? And he didnโt tell you something that important?โ
Sienna fell silent. Josiah hadnโt mentioned it, and she hadnโt asked. Heโd assumed she knew; sheโd assumed it was Cedric.
After hanging up, Sienna closed her eyes. Cedric had insisted he hadn't done it. He was telling the truth. She thought, โSo where was Josiah? I didnโt see him when I woke up. Did he leave early? But why would he fly a helicopter across the city just for me?โ She'd assumed it was Cedric because he cared for her. But Josiah? That seemed impossible.
At that moment, Josiah finished a phone call and approached, holding his phone.
Sienna looked up, meeting his gaze. She spread her arms wide. โHold me.โ
Josiah was stunned, his Adamโs apple bobbing. Her adorable morning request was captivating. Sienna frowned, lifting a foot. โWhy are you laughing? Not willing to hold me? Iโm not wearing shoes, and if I climb up myself, wonโt you get mad again!โ
She was sitting; he was standing. She tilted her head, her bright eyes sparkling like warm amberโincredibly beautiful. Josiah had always known she was stunning, but then, he hadnโt wanted to claim her. Now, he only wanted her, and he didn't want anyone else to look at her.
โI wonโt be mad,โ Josiah said, leaning down to lift her. He carried her upstairs and placed her on the bed. โDo you still want to sleep?โ
โNo,โ Sienna shook her head. โIf I sleep too much, I wonโt be able to sleep tonight.โ
โOkay,โ Josiah said, handing her a tablet. โWatch videos or play games. Iโve got work to do. Iโll come back later.โ
Sienna rolled her eyes. โGo ahead. Iโm not a child. I donโt need company.โ
โAlright.โ Josiah pulled the blanket over her. He remembered something. โWhy didnโt you tell me about moving?โ
Siennaโs heart skipped a beat, but she remained calm. โWhy should I? The old place was rundown, and now Iโm sharing a house with someone. This visit was unexpected. Donโt just show up unannounced next time. Itโs inconvenient.โ
โInconvenient?โ Josiah pondered. โIs it because your housemate has a child?โ
Siennaโs heart raced; her palms sweated. โHow did you know?โ
โDo you think Iโm a fool? I saw childrenโs things yesterday,โ Josiah laughed, pinching her cheek. He frowned. โIs it a couple?โ A man was involved.
Sienna, determined to keep Joyce a secret, said, โItโs a single mom with a kid.โ
โGot it,โ Josiah sighed with relief. โSo itโs inconvenient for me to visit. Donโt rush over without warning next time,โ Sienna warned.
Josiah took her hand. โThen promise you wonโt avoid me. I worry when I canโt find you.โ
Sienna scoffed. โYou worry? Thatโs like expecting pigs to fly. Youโre not worried enough yet!โ
Josiah fell silent, puzzled. He went to his study to work.
As soon as he left, Siennaโs expression darkened, tossing the tablet aside. Could Josiah have feelings for her? Impossible. But his recent behaviorโฆ what if it was true?
With Josiahโs care, Sienna almost fully recovered after two days. Her right hand was bandaged, and bruises lingered.
Everyone in the dance troupe knew she was with Josiah. Brenda, the temporary leader (still recovering from her injuries), scheduled Siennaโs performances earlier so she could rest.
For the past few days, Josiah had picked Sienna up daily and stayed at Silver Beach at night because of her illness and injuries.
Since the Sunshine Neighborhood address was exposed, Sienna avoided direct confrontation with him. If he ran into Joyce, it would be troublesome. So she stayed at Silver Beach.
That day, after her performance, Josiah picked her up. In the car, he buckled her seatbelt. โYouโre off tomorrow. Iโll take you out to eat.โ
Sienna wasnโt enthusiastic. โWhat are we eating?โ
โChicken soup,โ Josiah chuckled. โI know youโre worried about weight gain. This soup is nourishing, filling without extra calories.โ
โWellโฆ Iโll try it,โ Sienna said.
They went to โSoup Bowls,โ a small shop in a city alley. As Sienna got out of the car, she saw Rosie. โRosie?โ
Josiah took her hand. โLetโs go.โ
โWait,โ Sienna frowned, pointing. โIs that a hotel over there?โ
โYeah,โ Josiah nodded. โQuick Stay Inn.โ
Sienna was puzzled. โWhatโs Rosie doing there?โ
Josiah smirked, leaning closer. โNot to badmouth your friend, but hotels like this are mostly forโฆromantic meet-ups.โ
Sienna glared. โYou seem to know a lot about this. Have you been here often?โ
Josiah tapped his forehead. โMy bad. I was rambling. Come on, sheโs grown up. Letโs eat before it gets cold,โ he said, putting his arm around her and leading her inside.
Their table was reserved, and their order was ready. โEnjoy your meal,โ the waiter said.
โSo, how is it?โ Josiah asked, watching Sienna eat.
Sienna took a sip. โHmm, this is really good.โ She finished the whole bowl.
Josiah smiled. โIโll bring you here often.โ
