Chapter 652

Aaronโ€™s gaze locked on Nate. โ€œIโ€™ll stay at a hotel. I just came to check on you.โ€

Lena let out a relieved breath. โ€œOh, good. Did you book one yet? If not, I canโ€”โ€

โ€œNo need,โ€ Aaron cut her off. โ€œYou two sit. We need to talk.โ€ His tone was pure authorityโ€”like some family elder calling the shotsโ€”even though he was only a year older than her.

Nate caught on instantly. After sitting down, he took Lenaโ€™s hand, his voice calm but firm. โ€œLena and I are in a serious relationship, with marriage as the goal.โ€

Aaron didnโ€™t even blink. โ€œAnd has she agreed to marry you?โ€

Nate glanced at Lena. โ€œNot yet.โ€

Lena jumped in. โ€œIโ€™ve liked him since school. If he wants to marry me, my answerโ€™s yes.โ€

Aaron stayed silent, his expression unreadable, but the tension in the room felt suffocating.

โ€œMr. Ace,โ€ Nate said, his gaze steady. โ€œYou can be sureโ€”if Lena agrees, Iโ€™ll visit Mr. and Mrs. Lane to make everything official.โ€

Lena could feel the pressure closing in on Nate. If sheโ€™d known the night would spiral like this, sheโ€™d have never brought him over. Sheโ€™d started dating Nate just for funโ€”not to end up talking about marriage. But now, it felt like she was accidentally shoving him into a corner.

Still, Nateโ€™s calm confidence surprised her. Standing his ground in front of Aaron? That took guts.

โ€œUncle Aaron,โ€ Lena chimed in, trying to ease the tension, โ€œyouโ€™re only a year older than me. Stop acting like some strict elder. Nate and I are just dating, okay? No need to rush into meeting parents or talking marriage.โ€

โ€œSo, what youโ€™re saying is, heโ€™s not your only option?โ€

The question hit her like a ton of bricks. Lena nearly choked but managed to nod. She wasnโ€™t about to make sweeping promisesโ€”not to Nate, not in front of Aaron. Plus, the last thing she needed was Aaron reporting back to her mom. โ€œExactly. If he doesnโ€™t treat me right, I wonโ€™t stick around.โ€

โ€œIโ€™d never let that happen,โ€ Nate said, his tone steady and unshakable. โ€œSince Iโ€™ve chosen Lena, Iโ€™ll make sure sheโ€™s happy. Always.โ€

His response was so perfect it left no room for doubtโ€”or escape. The message was clear: Lena wouldnโ€™t get the chance to leave him.

Aaron gave a faint nod as he stood. โ€œIโ€™ll leave you two, then.โ€ His tone was polite but carried an unmistakable distance.

โ€œUncle Aaron, donโ€™t go blabbing about tonight, okay? Iโ€™ll treat you to dinner another time,โ€ Lena called after him, trying to smooth things over.

Aaron frowned slightly, then replied with a single word: โ€œFine.โ€

As the door clicked shut behind him, Lena let out a long, relieved sigh. But when she turned back around, Nateโ€™s gaze was locked on her, intense and unyielding.

โ€œWhy are you looking at me like that? He really is my uncle,โ€ Lena said, her tone defensive.

โ€œI know,โ€ Nate replied evenly. โ€œHe cares about you a lot.โ€

Lena grabbed his hand, teasing, โ€œDonโ€™t tell me youโ€™re jealous of my uncle now?โ€

โ€œMm,โ€ Nate hummed, not even pretending to deny it.

She laughed, light and teasing. โ€œNate, youโ€™re so pettyโ€”โ€

Her words were cut off as he pulled her close, his lips crashing into hers. The kiss was fiery, possessive, and so intense it left her dizzy. The heat of his kiss stirred something deep inside her, and the passion escalated so quickly it left her breathless.

Before she knew it, theyโ€™d gone from the couch to the bathroom, and then to the bedroom. Nate, always so composed and polished, shed every ounce of restraint. His desire was overwhelming, consuming her completely. Clearly, the hotel stunt had struck a nerve. Or maybe it was Aaronโ€™s surprise visit that tipped him over the edge, pouring fuel on the fire of his possessiveness.

When it came to guysโ€”human or animalโ€”they all had that one defining trait: they didnโ€™t share.

โ€œDid you come here tonight just for me?โ€ Lena asked, her voice soft, her body completely melted against Nateโ€™s chest after the whirlwind of their night.

โ€œI was afraid if I waited any longer, someone else might take my girlfriend,โ€ Nate murmured, pressing a kiss to her hair. Then, his voice dipped, tender but firm. โ€œLena, come with me overseas, okay?โ€
