As they glanced back at Calliope and her group, a surprised expression crossed their faces. Perhaps they'd hoped for a greeting, a friendly nod. But noticing the men surrounding Calliope, they quickly retreated, hurrying to catch up with Lisette and the others. A waiter was already escorting Lisette's party down a hallway lined with private dining rooms.

Lisette spotted a room she instantly adoredโ€”a spacious room with a bay window, a crackling fireplace, and a stunning view of the city lights. Without hesitation, she entered. "No need to go further," she declared, dropping her bag onto a plush corner booth. "I want this one. What do you think?"

"Looks great," Valerian agreed, sliding in beside her. "Let's take it."

The waiter appeared flustered. "I'm sorry," she began hesitantly, "but this suite is our best private room, available only by reservation. I'll have to ask you to choose another."

Lisette frowned. "But it's empty. We're here now. Just tell me the price, and I'll pay. Problem solved." Her irritation was palpable; she felt the waiter was dismissing them.

"It's not that simple," the waiter replied, wringing her hands. "We have a reservation for this room at this exact time." She offered a strained smile, "Let me show you other rooms. They're all unique."

But Lisette remained resolute, arms crossed. The rest of her group settled in, making their intentions clear. Valerian shrugged. "Let us stay. If the other guests arrive, we'll compensate them." He turned to the waiter. "Just bring the menu."

The waiter was at a loss. "Sir, guests who book this room never want to switch. It's a special space."

"Don't worry. I'll handle it," Valerian insisted. "Let me know if they arrive."

Upstairs, Calliope and her group arrived to find the waiter near tears at the private room's door, pleading with Lisette's group, her efforts only strengthening Lisette's resolve.

"What's going on?" Calliope asked, noticing her name on the brass plate.

"Ms. Jewell, I'm so sorry," the waiter stammered, her voice trembling. "There are unreasonable guests in your suite, and I can't get them to leaveโ€ฆ" She looked mortified. This high-end steakhouse, frequented by the city's elite, was unaccustomed to such behavior.

Calliope approached the door. Valerian looked up, meeting her gaze. "You're not saying this is your room, are you?"

Calliope's brow furrowed. "It absolutely is. And I'm not giving it up." Her tone was icy. "My brothers and I love this room. I'll have to ask you to leave." Politely was not an option.

Valerian bristled. "We like it too! Why should you get it?"

Calliope leaned against the doorframe, studying Valerian. "Why should I give it up? What are you offering me?"
