Chapter 83

Giselle fell earlier and was hurt quite a bit, but after resting for a while, the pain gradually faded.

Donovan and Giselle ended up taking a bath together in the tub. She leaned against the edge of the bathtub, cradling his muscular frame in her arms as she leisurely lathered soap over his skin.

Donovan lay against her, letting her hold him close.

Her touch was featherlight, her breath warm and teasing against his ear. Each sensation was magnified by the water’s embrace, lulling him into a state of surrender.

He closed his eyes, letting go completely. Adrift in a haze of bliss, it was as if he were floating through some weightless paradise.

At that moment, Giselle couldn’t resist pressing her cheek against his. She whispered teasingly in his ear, “Donovan, I want to marry you and have eight children…” Donovan let out a low chuckle, then turned his head and kissed her hard. He gripped the back of her head as he deepened the kiss, making it utterly consuming.

The next morning, Giselle slept until she woke naturally. When she opened her eyes and took in the unfamiliar bedroom around her, it took her a second to register where she was.

She turned to the side and found the bed empty, though it still held the warmth of his body and the lingering scent of his cologne.

She picked up her phone and glanced at the time. It was already 10:30 am. The sunlight was streaming in brightly through the windows.

Giselle couldn’t even remember when she fell asleep last night. All she remembered was their passion, twice before bed and again in the middle of the night when they were half–asleep.

It was no wonder she slept so long.

She was already exhausted just from enjoying it all, yet Donovan had still gotten up early and headed to work like nothing had happened. He truly was a workaholic to the core.

He must’ve left quietly too, not even waking her.

At that moment, Giselle didn’t feel like a housekeeper at all. On the contrary, she felt like a pampered wife, lounging around in his luxurious home during the day and waiting for him to return and spoil her at night. Life couldn’t get any better.

As she relaxed and mentally drifted, she reached for her phone to send Donovan a message, only to see a WhatsApp message from someone else instead.

It read, “Giselle, I’ve been thinking about you a lot lately. How have you been?”

The message was from Zachary.

The sight of those words pulled Giselle out of paradise and dropped her back into reality. Her mood grew inexplicably heavy, especially when she remembered the connection between Zachary and Donovan.

She thought about it for quite a while, then took a deep breath and replied as calmly as she could.

“I’m fine. I hope you can move on soon and find true happiness.”

In her mind, Zachary was still young, impulsive, and immature. His infatuation with her beauty was understandable. But with time and distance, he would eventually get over it. He would be chasing after someone new within two months.

Fortunately, Zachary didn’t reply again after that.

Giselle got out of bed slowly and started her morning routine. She brushed her teeth and washed her face. After she was done freshening up, she planned to head over to her pet shop.

But just as she was brushing her teeth, she suddenly heard the sound of a car horn outside the villa, followed by the noise of voices and the front door opening. Giselle thought it must be one of Donovan’s guests and walked out of the bedroom to the second floor to inspect.

To her surprise, she saw it wasn’t just any visitor. It was none other than Dorothea, and behind her were Renee and Ame.
