Chapter 19

The moment Giselle reached home, she plopped onto the bed, utterly drained. Her skull felt as if it were about to crack open. She had no idea when her veterinary clinic could resume normal operations. Besides the clinic's tarnished reputation, staff turnover, and closure, she still faced a court case and compensation claims. She'd also suffered injuries from Sebastian's attack. Beyond superficial wounds, some of her organs were affected, necessitating a few days' hospitalization. Yet, she hadn't called the police. The Holt family owed her too much—Rebecca's life, her grandparents' lives, and the Moore family's business empire. She had to calm herself and plan her next steps.

Giselle once dreamed of severing ties with her dysfunctional family, each going their separate ways. But now, cornered and burdened by old grudges and fresh wounds, she felt a burning desire for revenge unlike any before.

She was certain the Holt family most valued the marriage alliance between Anne and Donovan. Kane Pharmaceutical Group, with global branches and tens of thousands of employees, was an industry pioneer. Their empire extended beyond pharmaceutical R&D, production, and sales to include medical devices, real estate, finance—almost every field. Their brand alone was worth over 100 billion dollars. Renee and Tony eagerly anticipated joining forces with such a powerful family. Therefore, to truly destroy the Holts, Giselle had to target Donovan. That thought alone fueled her with renewed purpose.

Two weeks later, mostly recovered, Giselle was back to her prime. That morning, she meticulously cleaned and applied makeup, spending nearly two hours on her appearance. Standing before the full-length mirror, she barely recognized herself.

The woman in the mirror wore a black bodycon dress with spaghetti straps, perfectly highlighting her figure. From her graceful shoulders to her slim waist and long legs, everything exuded allure. Her striking features, enhanced by bold makeup, were breathtaking. Her eyes were especially captivating, seductive yet vulnerable, capable of stealing hearts. Tilting her head, she added pearl earrings and admired her reflection, a cold smirk playing on her lips.

Ready, she took a pack of condoms from her drawer, tossed it into her bag, slipped on three-inch heels, grabbed her purse, and strutted out. In the car, she entered Kane Pharmaceutical Group's headquarters address into the GPS. Once her sunglasses were in place, she accelerated toward her destination.

An hour later, she arrived at a towering building on the city's outskirts—the heart of Kane Pharmaceutical Group's empire. The grand and imposing edifice, complete with a rooftop courtyard and glass corridors, was bold and stylish. After parking and a quick check-in, she entered the main tower. The CEO's office, on the executive floor, was off-limits to most, accessible only to top management or assistants with keycard and facial recognition access. But she was prepared. With practiced ease, she entered a password and took the elevator to the tenth floor.

Finally, she stood before Donovan's office. His secretary was absent, so she hesitated, then opened the heavy door. Inside, Donovan reclined in his leather chair, eyes closed, seemingly resting, too engrossed to notice her immediate presence. Giselle quietly locked the door behind her and approached. Her heels made no sound on the plush carpet. Only when she reached his desk did he open his eyes—as if sensing her familiar perfume.
